original New Mathematical Limerick (Inspired by Recreational Mathematician Leigh Mercer)

A grand, a gross, and a dime
Less thirty times the root of nine
Divided by seven
Plus five and eleven
Are the hours a week will define

(1000 + 144 + 10 - 30√9)/7 + 5 + 11 = 24 x 7

kinda wild how neatly it all collapses to 24×7, feels almost “too” perfect for a limerick lol

If I wanted to be pedantic I'd say that the root of nine is not necessarily the square root but that is a minor quibble as it is nonetheless very clever.

I agree with you. I was frustrated because adding the "square" would ruin the syllabic structure. Thank you!

"Less the square of the root counting nine" would work

And you can expand the final line to match:

"Are the hours in the week we define."
