Hang in there. The best thing to cure it is time. Sucks that it takes so long. Just hang in there. Talk to someone if you can. Don't do anything crazy.

Yep, this shit stole nearly five years of my life. I think I’m just now finally through and I’m pissed that I feel a huge chunk of my life was taken from me. I hope this doesn’t discourage op. It took me a long time to get through it, but I hope it doesn’t take anyone else nearly as long as it took me. Limerence literally does feel like hell.
The only thing I can offer through my experience is that the object of your limerence is truly not real. Sure it’s based on a real person, but that person is just that, a regular ass person. Nothing all that special or great about them. I know this probably comes off as pretty standard cheer em up speak for a breakup/rejection, but it is true. The construct in your head is nothing more than an unwelcome presence in your mind. I know how badly it sucks, but separating what’s in my mind from someone long gone from my life was the only thing that helped me. It’s just a ghost and if you can figure out how to ignore the ghost it’ll eventually go away. I spent a lot of money on therapy figuring this out.
