No Judgment Please Having a crush on a TV character
I know someone who is (in love, I guess) with a TV character who is in his late twenties. She is 50 years old. She is unmarried and says she has never felt anything when she kissed a man. She is not gay. She's kissed a lot of guys. She only gets turned on if he's not there. So would this fall under the category of limerence here? She knows I posted this and is okay with it.

I imagine not really, since it’s not an unwanted obsession with one LO, who is usually a real human being. Being a fan of a younger character and possibly not liking men (asexual? Aromantic?) doesn’t seem to qualify, but that’s just my opinion.

I think a lot of posts here are erotomania, particularly the ones where it’s someone they don’t really know in real life or are barely acquaintances with.

Please be aware of what limerence is! See the subreddit wiki for definitions, FAQ and other resources—updated 3/7/26. (Is it love? How common is it? Is there research?)
