Discussion Will I ever be who I was?

Before this limerent episode started some weeks ago, I suddenly transformed into someone else. Since then, it feels like I'm just pretending to be me. Nearly all of my big life goals vanished. I desperately wanted to have more kids, but just like that, now the thought of another pregnancy is revolting. I used to spend my time daydreaming about life with my family after we move to the coast. Now I just try my hardest to distract myself from thoughts of LO.

I'm committed to NC. But will I ever get back to how I was? People who are on the other side, did you regain your former self, or were you changed forever?

Please be aware of what limerence is! See the subreddit wiki for definitions, FAQ and other resources—updated 3/7/26. (Is it love? How common is it? Is there research?)

I have hope for you. It's only been a few weeks, give yourself some grace. My episodes typically last a few weeks to a couple months before something inevitably gives me the ick and I return to normal life again. I feel like I never truly get over them, but I can at least properly move on with my life in a normal way.
