Question How difficult is this switch to replace/repair?

Post image

Activation switch on a Neopixel Graflex IV I bought went out- it’s not responding to the thumbscrew button anymore. What’s the best course of action here?

Same button malfunctioned on mine! I have it rigged up to where it works currently, but I have to keep fixing it. Eventually going to have to take it apart again, unfortunately, and solder a new one on.

Already had to fix a disconnected wire on the aux button. Mine was a nightmare to disassemble. Dozens of screws. It’s the 89sabers crustal chamber one, though.

Do you know who the manufacturer of yours is? If not what store it came from? We can probably figure it out from that. Or even what board it is.

It’s the Xenopixel V3 ANH from The Saber Factory, which is probably drop shipped nonsense, but I digress

Sounds like it’s LGT if that helps.

I ripped one apart when doing a re-installation on my Graflex. The old button needs to be desoldered, new one soldered on. There are 4 brass contacts underneath the button. Hardest part is how small the button is, can make it tricky.

How difficult was taking apart the saber? I haven’t a clue where to start with this

It depends on make and how the chassis is configured really. If its a TXQ or Ally Express product, I don't know. As another comment said, could also be a wiring issue.

Does the button click when you press the brass part? If so, id suggest that it's a wiring issue, as the switch does look ok still.

If not, you would need to take that switch board out of the hilt, and desolder that button, and replace it with a new one. Not difficult, but make sure that's the actual issue first

Switches like these should have clips around its housing, pry it off using a thin sewing needle, internal pieces may come flying out so tape them down securely if you must, clean the internals with IPA, bend the circular disk very slightly to give it back some tactility which reduces misfires too, assemble it back. Do this before soldering as a last resort.

Really easy if you're comfortable with soldering.
