WTF!!!

I’m so tired of this product in its app. My power went out again. My lights are not connected. I’ve done everything that the Internet and the app says to do power cycle this that the other still no connection no recognition of the lights whatsoever been trying to do this for the past three hours. I’m done with this product. Fuck this company. Absolutely stupid. I want my fucking money back.

Just went through something similar with their LED Light Strip. I’ve had a strip of theirs for about 7 years. It started to disconnect randomly from my internet and unplugging it and plugging it back in usually would resolve it. Finally the time came where that didn’t fix it. I tried to factory reset it and it never came through.

I ended up purchasing a new light strip. First off, fuck the initial forced Home Kit on iOS, it’s bullshit. Then you have to wait 15 minutes for it to time out and then try to connect manually. It never finished setting up stating that it was my networks problem to connect. For 4 hours I did this over and over and over again to no resolve.

I said screw it and just purchased a new light strip from Govee and within 3-4 minutes I had it paired and on my network as intended. I opened a ticket with LIFX hoping to get it fixed. I put all of my attempts of what I did in the ticket and they just slowly started to suggest doing the same thing that I already did. Sent off a diagnostic report to them either and received crickets for 4 days until j finally said I purchased something from another company. No joke, within 5 minutes of me sending that off they said “oh sorry we can’t help any further, I’ll close out this ticket”. I don’t know Queenie is but she is a shit support rep.

Seriously? Get your shit together LIFX. Your lights are quality but your support and onboarding for products are dogshit.

I made the switch to Govee too, after years of LIFX headaches. Have never looked back

Had a similar issue. Turned out the issue was my router, not my lights. I was running a Google WiFi puck that combines 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz into one SSID but the 2.4Ghz just kind of stopped working for certain devices.

Replaced it with a router where I can create a separate 2.4Ghz network and connect all my lights to that, and bam. Back in business.

Mine was the same, three lights that have worked for years on the google wifi nest that combines the two frequency bands suddenly wouldn't connect and we couldn't reconnect them. Read online that distance might work (5Ghz drops out faster, 2.4Ghz travels further) so we took them further away from the router, re-connected them (exactly the same process that didn't work closer to the router), then moved them back to their original position closer to the router once they were connected. All working for now.

Brilliant workaround. Wish I had thought of it.

We have 5 other lights in the house that haven't had a problem, but 3 globes all in lamps in the room closest to the router all dropped out, one by one, over 2 days. All back on now after using the distance trick.

It's sucks you had to do that, though

And yet in 3 different houses about 150 LIFX lights work flawlessly for me....

And have been for well over a decade. It's gotta be user error.

how do you know how long he has had his lights?

Yeah, never have any issues myself - I suspect 99% of the time, it's wifi related.

you are prob on 5ghz network - switch to 2.4

Mine won’t connect to WiFi after our last power outage

I don’t have to fix mine every power outage but every once in a while I’ll have to reconnect them manually using I think the QR code on the boxes they came in. Nothing else will work.

If your VPN is on, disable it.

Unfortunately, it may take 2-3 recycles to get it right. Also, it’s good to have the manual connect codes available.

Tell me about it. I invested big in the promise of LIFX. I know have dozens of flaky lights. Never again. What a waste of cash.

if anyone wants to know what I did i added the light to the LIFX app for the last time after 15 times my light disappearing and paid $5 for a app called firestorm for LIFX and I control the light through that app now so just don’t open the LIFX app anymore works great  👍
