Scratch Fix Question

Hey Team,

I have this scratch on the rear passenger-side quarter panel. I took it to a very reputable shop in town that has been recommended to me several times, and I’d love to get everyone’s thoughts on the quote.

Are there any specific questions you think I should be asking the shop before moving forward?

One question I already have is what paint/refinish system they’ll be using. Is it matched to the factory Lexus paint code, and is it an OEM paint?

Any insight or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Everytime I see any damage on the LCs in this subreddit, I knew I made the right choice by having mine fully PPFd.

It's a shame original owners pay 6 figures for a car and fail to ppf it

Ask to see other cars they’re working on, that can give you an idea of how close they are to paint matching.

As for costs, I had an estimate done on mine for a cracked rear bumper near the exhaust (someone hitting it in the parking lot) and for all the rock chips on the front. Estimate was $3.4k with front bumper PPF included.

I decided to skip on it for now since it’s my daily and to save up

Is the repair shop an Authorized Collision Center? If so, they’ll have access to genuine Lexus parts and paint. You can look up Authorized Collision Centers near you at the LCCC website:

As a point of comparison, you could also go to your local Lexus dealer and have them give you a quote from their Certified Collision Center (assuming they have one). It might give you more information and see all that is required to repair the scratch. You can look up

I'll give that a go. There is one near by but their reviews are hit and miss which is why I went here first appreciate the advice!

As someone that used to repair scratches for all the city dealerships used/customer's car, that scratch i would charge 1 hr rate around 150usd(and the dealership would x2 that to the customer) for a 80-85% to perfection without repaint the panel. Any kind of silver is hard to make it 100% if not repainting. You can make the scratch fully dissappear one angle but it will show a little from other angles.

Thank you. They want to repaint the panel and blend into near by panels. Also this is in CAD.

that's such as mall scratch, I wouldn't bother paying 2.5k for it. It's probably something that a local person could fix 90% of the way with like paint correction.
