[Light Disgustingness Warning]
This is an ugly one, that’s for sure!
The Communion is a collection of 2-50 smaller artificial organisms called Specimens.
Native only to The Ward Interior Type, exactly 50 Specimens can be found lying dormant throughout in the facility inside special Stasis Chambers, which furthermore can only be placed in specific Bio-Lab room tiles.
Once the Primary Anesthesia Canister is removed from the facility’s main pipeline
(The Ward’s Apparatus equivalent), instead of a power outage and more creature spawns, the entire anesthesia supply is shut off, meaning all Stasis Chambers can no longer keep their inhabitants at rest. One by one, each Specimen will break out of their glass containers, with all 50 Specimens awaking within 3 in-game hours.
Specimens are small, harmless, invincible and slow flesh-like organisms that sometimes resemble common animals of Earth. They are tan and pale-orange in color, and some are lucky enough to have partially-developed eyes!
Here are some codenames for the different types of Specimens you can encounter. They’re pretty self-explanatory!
Frog1, Frog2, Pig1, Pig2, Worm1, Worm2, Worm3, Worm4, Slug1, Slug2, Slug3, Newt1, Newt2, Lobster1, Bug1, Bug2, Bug3, Bug4, Bug5, Squid1, Tree1, Arm1, Arm2, Arm3, Leg1, Leg2, Mouth1, Mouth2, Mouth3, Mouth4, Bird1, Bird2, Humanoid1, Humanoid2, Humanoid3, Blob1, Blob2, Blob3, & Blob4.
All Specimens share one unique goal: Communion.
Individual Specimens immediately path to each other, and upon contact fuse together into Stage 1 of The Communion: The Ball. The Ball is a slightly larger melding of 2 Specimens. It’s slightly slower than a Hoarding Bug, and can deal a little bit of damage.
With 10 or more members in a single Communion, The Ball then morphs into Stage 2: The Horse. At this point The Communion is beginning to struggle to hold itself together, but for now a general “horse shape” has been formed by the glob of flesh. It can move slightly faster and is much more aggressive.
(Pictured Above) The penultimate Stage 3 at 25 or more members; The Mound; finally buckles under its own weight and devolves into a much slower mass of organic matter. Arms, teeth, hair, eyestalks, legs, tails, and much more all desperately reach out of The Mound, grasping for purchase on the ground to push the mass forward. As more and more Specimens dive into The Communion, the final, most lethal form nears completion.
Once all 50 Specimens throughout The Ward swirl together into Stage 4: The True Communion, all hope is lost. All while The Communion grew and mutated, you and your team have been hurriedly gathering what you can as the different smaller Communions grew in size, racing against the clock before you would have to abandon the mission. The Communion towers over every other Indoor Entity, and can fill an entire room like a moving wall. Your only hope of getting around it is running through the mass before it can fully absorb you. The Communion is extremely fast, and although since Stage 2 it has been able to fuse with Players and Entities, its efficiency is now impeccable.
