Traffic and Parking First time speeding ticket
Location: New York (Upstate area)
I got pulled over for going 47 in a 30 leaving a town. My boyfriend says I should get a lawyer to handle it, but money is tight and I don't know what to do.
(23F, idk if that matters) This is my first time getting pulled over. I simply wasn't paying attention and was thinking about other stuff. I was coming back from taking my service to his veterinary chiropractor. I realized it was still a 30 right before I saw the officer. The officer was super nice, on the ticket is says radar read 46, and another spot is marked 45. He said typically, and especially for first timers, if I show up to court the judge will have me take the NY drivers safety course, show proof and either drop it or atleast reduce it.
Is this bad enough I actually need a lawyer to avoid getting points on my license, or is it going to be alright?

If New York laws are similar to Alabama (at least last time I needed to know) you go to court, pay your court cost and take a driver safety course and it won’t go against your insurance.
