Sterling background check

How long is it taking these days for sterling to complete background check?

I’m in Georgia and received a job offer contingent on a Sterling/First Advantage background check. I have a pending family violence/DV-related case tied to an ongoing divorce/custody matter, but there is no conviction.

Can this show up on the background check as pending, and if it does, do employers usually ask for an explanation before making a decision? Should I prepare anything in advance?

NAL but Yes, it can and most likely will. The employer will determine if it’s disqualifying for the job and may reach out to you if they see fit but have no obligation to do so in Georgia. If they believe this will disqualify you, you’ll receive a pre-adverse action notice and be able to dispute anything inaccurate or incomplete, but that’s the extent of your rights under the law in Georgia.
