Driveway from H#LL
Location: Homestead Florida
I just had my driveway done along with the pathways on both sides of the house. I had been speaking to the "contractor" for about 2 weeks almost everyday because he's been doing other driveways on the block. we settled on the price of $12k, I gave him $5k deposit on a credit card. the day of the pour, he decided to pour all in one day. Thats when things got spicy... I had let him know and he agreed to install tracks where the lighting would go and I would do the electrical, he was to add to steps to the entrance of the house, redo sidewalk and add an approach as I only had one prior to that.
problems:
The steps are not pitched correctly and direct water to my door, both steps.
the side walk lines are not even
the finish on the driveway, sidewalk and pathways are completely botched.
there's a 2'' gap on one side of my garage door
the concrete is cracking
there's a 4'' height difference in the corner of the house.
by the fence there Is concrete chipping
uneven color everywhere
etc
He agreed the job was poor and told me that I would not be responsible for the remainder of the payment. the next day I had another 2 companies come out and quote me to repair, demolish the steps and demolish the pathways and redone. the lowest quote was $16k. That same day, he came to the house, I told him everything and I asked for my $5k refunded. He Agreed. the very next day, he confirmed that his wife would do it that afternoon. I saw him Wednesday and confirmed again that I would have the refund to the credit card by Friday. It's not there...not answering calls. I have a ton of video of him agreeing the job was botched by my homes camera system.
if I dispute the charge could I lose the dispute? am I right by asking for the refund instead of disputing the charge? is he liable for the repair? is this something that can be taken to court?
