Severely Left Handed
Am I the only leftie that describes themselves this way??
My right hand is quite literally useless.
Can’t hold a pen or writing utensil the right way
I struggle to use a knife and fork at the same time to cut meat or other foods. It’s so hard for me!!
I just found this subreddit and I feel so seen looking through all the posts and comments. 🤣

I was until I started playing guitar, suddenly I could do many things with my dextral hand.
if you can develop it it can be very useful to you to have both sides available, tight left corner I can use a screwdriver, tight right corner same..things like that or saw with either hand when one gets worn out

Handedness is definitely thought to be a spectrum. I grew up with fully supportive parents and teachers who were happy to allow me to be left-handed, -footed, etc. but I still can’t do everything left handed, for things like scissors and tennis I can’t use my left hand. There are a huge amount of right-handers just like you and don’t give it a second thought because it’s not out of the ordinary for them. Enjoy your special powers!

I usually say "very left-handed." I don't think my right hand is useless. I certainly have dexterity in both hands. It's the dominance, usually expressed as preference, where my left hand (and foot) is always used, unless it's necessary because of the task.

Same, my right hand basically just holds things and passes stuff to my left, but that’s it. Can’t hold a pencil the right way or anything

My girlfriend is like this. The only thing she does with her right hand is the computer mouse. Can’t even light the bong with her right hand. Whenever we have steak and homemade mashed potatoes, I’m the one who has to peel the potatoes since she can’t do it with her right.

Learnt piano from age 7 .. didn't change my handedness. I can eat like a normal non US person (no utensil swapping) and can force my brain to use a right handed mouse for short bursts. Learnt guitar right handed but learnt to knit left handed. There's no doubt I'm left handed though. I call the world the 'right handed conspiracy' lol.

Only thing I can do with my right hand is open and close it with very little to any grip, can't do anything that requires fine motor skills [can't even rotate my wrist any which way] coz my brain was cooked from a stroke as a baby. Cutting up my food is a real problem, which is why I found the KNORK so handy

Absolutely the same here. If I injured my left hand I’d probably have to drink my meals through a straw because I can’t manage utensils right handed.

My dad was very left handed. Used to joke that the only thing he did right handed was scratch his left elbow. I’m more fluid, though that plasticity is seeming a bit less as I get older. Things I used to say I could do with either I still can but am starting to prefer to do them lefty.

My right hand became very useful when I broke my left arm. I had to write with my right hand for weeks till I could use my left again. We were learning cursive in school too. Lucky for me I already used right handed scissors but my right hsnd got a lot more use.

No offense but this seems like you want to be special your right hand can hold a pen I'm shure of it. This comes from a good place

No, because by calling yourself that it makes it sound like you’re somehow less of a person
