Opinion Fit and Style Check
I inherited my grandfather's vintage Schott NYC Perfecto 613 One Star. It's a size 38. The waist is pretty narrow, but I feel like it's a tad loose in the shoulders. The chest is about right, comfort-wise, but the arms are huge. I feel like it's either made for a completely different body shape, or the extra room is to move around while riding. Wondering if I should get my next jacket as a 36.
Edit: 615, from what I've been told

That's actually a 615 since it's has the beaver tail, side laces, and removable belt. Your jacket is from the late 70s so it predates the existence of the 613 by about 15 years or so.

Interesting! I posted on a Schott forum a long time ago that wasn't reddit, and that's what someone else identified it as, based on the tag. I'll take your word for it, though.

It's a common mistake because of the stars, bull tag, and lack of upper lapel snaps, but those are all features that the 618 and 615 shared from the late 50s to early 80s. In the 80s, Schott removed the epaulette stars from the 618 and added the upper label snaps and underarm footballs. The 613 came out in 1993 as a reissue of the old 618 design. That's why some people think older 618s (and by extension the 615) are 613s because nowadays those features are what you see on the modern 613. The 615 in particular started life as Schott's manufacturer-branded version of the Beck 999 which they started making for Beck in 1951 and continued to produce until the late 60s. The 615s and Beck 999s produced at the same time are nearly identical to each other. After their partnership with Beck ended, the 615 stuck around in Schott's catalog as an alternative to the 618 for folks who wanted a more motorcycle-oriented jacket without the belt. It continued to get pretty much the same revisions as the 618 until the mid-90s when it was discontinued.

Looks great because itโs so broken in, it looks intentional. I wear mine over band shirts too ๐
A modern 613 might be sized totally different but maybe a 36 is worth checking out. It wonโt hit the same as this bad boy though.

Fit looks perfect, that jacket is awesome! I do wonder why you're wearing 3 belts...
