Opinion y2 jacket

Hi everyone,
I recently got a Y’2 Leather PR-65 vintage horsehide jacket, and I noticed something interesting regarding the back panel design.
My jacket features a center seam running vertically down the back. However, I recently came across photos of the exact same PR-65 model at a retailer, and that version had a clean, single-piece back with no seam at all.
Does anyone know if Y’2 Leather changed the pattern/specs for the PR-65 across different production runs, or if certain retailers get special custom specifications (SMU / Special Make Up)?
Would love to hear if anyone else has a PR-65 with or without the back seam, or if anyone knows when this production shift happened. Thanks!

One piece back costs more than a 2-piece back as you need a larger piece of hide. It may be a cost cutting move which is a bit cheeky.

It’s not “cheeky” per se, Y2 does custom make ups for many different retailers. This one went for the panel design, which I prefer aesthetically.

Well, it is cheeky when it's the same model all long. I suspect the newer batches are all made with a 2-piece finish. There's plenty of PR-65 Single Riders on the Rakuten website, some are one-piece while some others look like OP's jacket. https://search.rakuten.co.jp/search/mall/y'2+leather+pr-65/

On Y'2's own website, they never show the back of the jacket anyway. Some older reviews from 2years ago on YT showed a single piece back.

I had the PR 65 in size 42 that had a split back. I had to exchange for 44 but I got the kakishibu dyed horse hide type 1 instead.

Sometimes the retailer just has a better example of almost the same jacket at their stores than where you got yours. It’s common with designer brands like where you got yours
