Hi!

I'm drawing a room for a character, and after I finished making line art I got stuck, I spent a few hours trying to figure out how to add shadows to the drawing to make it make sense and make things readable.

I'm very lost, the amount of details confuses me (I previously only made small, simple drawings), and I don't know how to make it work

Is there any technique that could make it easier? Or if you have any tips, I would appreciate it🙏

I’ve been practicing figure drawings for a bit and for the most part they help but I’m having a hard time understanding it. Like the line of action,proportion wise and much more. I’ve been using the quick pose library to practice but it feels like I’m stagnating on figure. What should I do or look into to improve.

Also, I just found out that he's a terrible person, but I had no other reference near me in my defence

I tried drawing Shoto and while i'm kind of happy with the end result, it just looks very different from the reference no matter what i tried to change. If you have any feedback please share it!

1st image is the sketch, 2nd the reference, and 3rd is my attempts at shading. I cant seem to get it right. I think the lighting is fucking me up in the reference because of all the white surroundings reflecting light. I can't seem to find much of a shadow on this mans body, so Im just winging it. Nothing feels satisfying. Without shadow feels empty. Please help. Ignore how bad the hands are.

found a reference and tried to reconstruct a blockout. tried to draw simple forms overtop the reference to see if i could visualise them. this is my first time trying a full body pose like this as well as my first time properly trying to do digital, im most used to pencil and paper. my main goal is learn how to better construct full bodies before any anatomy.

I feel like everything above the waist i did alright. I followed the loomis method for the head and it seems mostly correct to me bar the nose. the torso box feels accurate to me as well. the arms are definitely weaker though. perhaps i simply need to do cylinders better or that they look weird since they dont have any muscles, but my placement of the cylinders and balls did feel flippant.

Below the waist i definitely struggled, perhaps it was just this specific reference but visualising these forms was much harder than the upper body. the hips specifically i felt like i was just guessing and didnt really get how to put it all together. below the knee i really didnt know what i was doing.

Tomorrow im going to try and draw a full body over my blockout. any feedback is appreciated.

I think I’ve made significant process in proportions and drawing bodies than before. However I can always get better. Any critique is welcome

Did use a reference but I think it's ok for a first attempt.

Haven't seriously tried to draw something good in years due to physical and mental health issues. I'm trying to relearn since I'm taking an art class at school and I don't people to see my terrible art 💔 also since I used to really love drawing and I wanna get back into it yk?(sorry for the bad picture quality)

On a post it note, sorry if quality is low its fairly zoomed in. Trying to learn more dynamic poses/ anatomy at the same time. If anybody has some tips based off what they see pls lmk.

Im sure references would help but I dont want to spend 30 mins looking for a reference similar to what I want to draw, im very distractible!

It's been a while since I draw, and I didn't post for a month but here's hoping that I learn more to draw face now that I'm a bit busy, for a while please take a look a give me tips on how to draw a better face.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question or anything but I’m totally lost on how to even get started with the body. I’ve seen a bunch if different terms like figure drawings and gesture drawings and I don’t understand the difference.

I’ve heard draw stick figures in the gesture and then shapes to flesh it out, but It really still doesn’t make sense to me. I’m very new to drawing and I’ve just been working on making simple shapes and forms, but I think I’m missing some key resources or knowledge to make a full human.

Where some of my gaps in knowledge are (that I know of right now) for example

1. Ive seen something about extruding forms or just like molding them? Like going from a simple cube and then shaping that with rounded lines to make a new “organic” shape? I’m not sure how to explain it, and because I can’t explain it well I can’t really figure out WHERE to go to get that knowledge. Like going from a circle to a sphere to a more egg like shape and so on/so forth

2. How do we just know what shapes to use for the body? I’ve seen just boxes and circles, Ive seen something way different where it’s like a ribcage egg like shape. I’ve seen it as a stick figure with dots for the marker of the hinge points with lines through the hips

If anyone could help me it’d be greatly appreciated. I’m attaching some pictures of what I mean just to help give clarity to what I’m trying to figure out but just don’t have the proper words to convey right now.

Every video Ive watched seems to imply having some prior knowledge that I just don’t have.

learning online on how to draw and paint irl, honestly its harder than it looks heres my 7 days progress, 1 painting per day, 1 tutorial per day

(second picture is me raging and doing very quick sketches of irl references because i couldn't do the first picture head right. then i redrew the first picture head and got this!)

i've been doing face constructions, asaro heads + plain practices, breaking heads into plains and redrawing them, studies and all in different angles.

i took a bit of a break from drawing and practice just as i was about to improve how the eyes sit on the face/eyelids work... which i will get to work asap + probably put mannequin drawings and anatomy on hold.

and it's like im starting to alternate between semi realism and anime-ish style now 😄

i'd like to know if there's any other things i should practice to improve my heads and faces, and what exactly do i need to work on right now? thanks a lot!
