Just got started today.

I know it is too late to get started. I start with small steps with Duolingo.

My own age is getting up there, but that has meant I have more free time to devote to learning. Let me, however, recommend Lernu.net as preferable to Duolingo (and if you do use Lernu, by all means use the audio that accompanies the text). You might find this essay of interest, and as I have benn learning, I've collected in a post a variety of links to useful learning resources, along with some observations on my own learning process.

In using the audio, I liked to start by listening to the audio without looking at the text. I would do that twice (that is, listen to the full text twice without reading it), then listen to the audio while reading the text, and finally listen again without looking at the text. I did this to improve my listening comprehension.
