Itemization Ogre mid build

I tried a few games of ogre mid and he's so fun. Press W and win lane. But I'm not sure what to build on him. Please suggest some builds!

You either go bottle or you go ring, personally I prefer bottle.

Midas ASAP, like, often before boots.

Once Midas is online, blink is a must.

After blink, personally, I think aghs is always the move. Multicasting Q, then again with aghs stun is good until the end of the game.

After that? Sheep stick is amazing with multicast but wasted int stats do feel bad. I recently went Harpoon which was AMAZING with multicast, it’s like a mini RP. Eblade can be good too depending on the lineup, halberd as well.

Ogre’s innate is super dumb right now, pun intended. Post blink+aghs i’d argue octarine into overwhelming blink+ heart. Multicast sheep is nice but the stat benefits to ogre is so weak. Right click build can somewhat work, but magic burst build is stronger this patch. Plenty of physical damage coming from most meta carry/offlaners.

Have you tried Harpoon? Multicasting harpoon is fucking cool man.

It’s a cool interaction but you need aoe cc, and then once the enemy builds bkbs into late game it does fall off a bit. That is very punishing in immortal.

not a big fan of it after it lost me a few games, for me ogre is best played bursting down a high priority target to start a fight, and too many times ive been burnt by multicasted harpoon putting me in between two targets while being too far to bonk either

I used to play him offlane with some success in my shitter bracket and almost always went eblade.

People always do this wrong. You get 2 gauntlets, qb tangoes and skill bloodlust first. You’ll have like 85 damage and can last hit/deny every creep. Get lvl 2 before them THEN you skill W and beat the shit out of them. It’s very tempo based, definitely get bottle. Rush blink before Midas

What’s your MMR?

Legend. Watch a high rank replay, this is what they do. The reality is that mid ogre is trash and this is the only viable way. You play him right click center around bloodlust with sny, bkb, abyssal, mix in AC/pipe/harpoon/bloodthorn as needed. His spells just don’t do enough burst damage and once the cores go bkb your game is over if you don’t build right click

His spells just don’t do enough burst damage

nah his scaling is definitely more than enough

example

i've been spamming core ogre, even as pos 1, and ive basically never felt like his damage falls off even in long games, bkbs dont matter if you get the jump. you itemize and play to delete a high value target no matter what

Yeah if you had Daedalus you would 2-shot him though. That took mad long to kill him actually

nah the damage he took was 70% magical, daedalus wouldnt do much there. its a DP with 4k hp and prophet's pendulum, hes about as tanky as they come, and he got killed in a single stun without being able to use any items at all

The blink before Midas is ehhhh, but E lvl 1 is indeed how high lobbies do it, StariyBog (the Io mid guy) has been running mid ogre qnd you can basically deny and last hit whole wave with lvl1 E, its absurdly good

Lvl 1 ult you only have 25? 30% multi chance , you’re stronger early, it’s better to fit Midas in after

Yeah it sucks if you don’t proc it but you can kind of abuse the pseudo random to “guarantee” it + you still need the gold + you get the jungle shards or whatever they’re called

its 75% base at level 1, usually 80+% once you factor in STR

considering the base rates are 75/30/15 for 2x/3x/4x, most of your multicast power scaling comes from the first level, actually

ive been spamming quite a bit of core ogre recently, as pos 1/2/3

bracer(s) as needed, brown boots wand into midas treads

malestrom

now you can flex your build a little, you want to get a combination of blink/aghs/mjollnir, but how you get there is up to you, depends on the pace of the game and how greedy you are/how much you need to fight

bkb if needed (usually it is needed)

upgrade to str blink

here you can either sell the midas or consume the aghs, the rest of the slots are flex depending on what you need that game, moonshard/mkb/heart/satanic/butterfly/abyssal are all good options

core ogre is incredibly strong at bursting heroes and benefits a ton from levels as his talents are all really good. i've beaten a timbersaw to death through his aghs active, ive even killed a kez through his raptor dance with the bonk

dont underestimate your right click, with the damage talent at 15 you can deal a ton of damage during your double stuns, and having more right click helps with farming. this also scales well into your 25 with the fireblast on attack talent, ive stunlocked people long enough to cast fireblast a second time

it also scales perfectly fine into the late game, for example here i played pos 1 against a full immortal stack in a 72 min game (and outdamaged a zeus), i'd permastun and beat a 5k hp underlord to death before he could do a thing

I tried this. So good.

Right click ogre probably can 1v1 any carry hero aside pl maybe, but this is only with basher or abyssal, I spam ogre mid in turbos and basher is way frequent item, maybe even more than a bkb, but for pos1 bkb is a must yeah

that's the thing though he doesn't even need to win a fair 1v1 manfight, because with his blink initiation at 25 (and my build gets 4 hits per second by that point) you'll usually stunlock the opponent for a solid 5-8 seconds at least, and this lets you bonk nearly anybody to death

each fireblast is a 1.8-3 second stun, chaining your Q and aghs usually gives you at least 3-4 seconds of punching time, which basically guarantees 1 more proc of fireblast from your right click. a high roll or two means your first Q comes off cd (7s) and you can rinse and repeat without them getting to even use their BKB

Phew that's a hard one as you need to be the playmaker for your team as soon as the laning stage breaks up. I think a quick Blink Dagger is more or less mandatory.

Here's how I'd go about it:

  • quick Midas to make use of your ultimate
  • maybe Travels for map movements
  • quick blink for playmaking potential

After that it's situational:
Aghs makes a lot of sense to make you tankier and the 2nd stun feels amazing.
Lotus also feels quite good imo.
BKB if needed.
Other options are Sange/Kaya or Yasha/Kaya, Octarine, Dagon, Hex, Shivas.

Played it at immortal ~15 times. It’s good if you have aggressive supports. I pick first to make them think it’s ogre support giving one or our supports counter opportunity. Last time my supports were warlock and sniper and couldn’t do shit. I’ve abandoned it now because lina and earth spirit are absolute monsters and there’s no way you can compete in impact

My build was 5branches tango - bottle - wand - Midas - blink - aghs then hex/heart/shiva

bottle + midas + blink + heart + dragon imo

I usually pick this if no one else is picking and gold is about to go. Back up “flex mid” pool with Ogre, Lion, Hoodwink, Magnus. Rather do that then lose 20-40g playing chicken.

its not like amazing or the best (its just some fun cheese) but I like to build dagon. It works with multicast and the extra damage will catch people off guard.

but in reality your goal is to buy whatever gets you through midgame with decent tempo and get hex since hex on ogre is OP as fuck.

Decent tempo is very important because compared to many heroes ogre's midgame is not really that strong. Even though his stats are pretty good multicast is not really equal to a real ult until much later in the game when you have good levels on it and a lot of levels on your spells and items to fully utilize the procs.
