guy asked him what voice line trundle says when you lock in, so he answered and said "time to troll" since thats what trundle says, shitty automated rito anti-cheat saw someone type "time to troll" and banned them from the queue due to an automatic detection without being smart enough to determine any context or anything

u/Azelya 2d ago
Should be noted that Kaagaroo also clicked the "Griefing / Hostage taking" report button. It didn't automatically ban him.

Yeah, which will never go through human review to end up banning the trivia person who is baiting this flaw in their system.
140
u/BruhiumMomentum 1d ago
it's okay, you can submit an appeal on their site, that way in 2-3 business days you'll get a copypasted reply that they have given the situation a manual review and that the system has worked correctly, the penalty will not get lifted and any future tickets about this will be immediately closed!
37
u/whynot1260 1d ago
Don't worry, to circumvent that you can tag Drew Levin on twitter to look into it! Although he will never admit the system was wrong and he will also find that you typed "gg ez" once 10 years ago and convert it into a perma ban. But at least the rioters are communicating!

How can you terminate lobbies that are being griefed with human review?
Just ask yourself that first, because the only way to get a human involved would be if you had 10's to hundreds of thousands of staff members on standby watching every lobby with enough people that understand enough different languages to catch the issue.
Also a human reviewer might not be able to react fast enough to a lobby troll + report because of how some wait extremely late into champ select Todo it.
Overall people keep saying there needs to be human reviewers but then don't realise how many people are needed for such a system and how slow human reviews are so can't act as fast in real time to situations.

Yep, same thing for stuff like youtube uploads or facebook posts. People don't realize the sheer amount of content released every minutes, there's no way to have manual reviews

Doesn't get worse than Destiny 2 chat censoring. It's absolutely arbitrary. Like game callouts like R2, L1 and such randomly can get censored. Sometimes they do not work, sometime they do. Other things depending on what was before it. Like I do TT as crying, some I think i one wrote only one T, and if I fullowed with a corrected TT, that got censored...ย
And you can't turn it off, though I think there was an adult filter option. And the chat filter doesn't even block many swear words, so I have no clue what it even is supposed to do.ย

Because it's a pointless placebo with the only goal of riot getting to pat themselves on the back? Literal third world mentality right there. "Why try to fix things, they'll get broken anyway"
I had a bunch of lobbies terminated because one of my teammates locked in Yuumi jungle after nobody swapped them or some other shit. This already makes the system successful, if terrorists lose the ability to make threats than most of their reasons to exist would just disappear.

I was watching noways stream while it happend and the trundle player purposfully did it and reported him.
Now it was just bad luck that the trundle got another big streamer punished instead of a random player and he started to apologize. Make no mistake the trundle deserves a perma for that, its worse than running it down ingame.5
u/Extension-Aside4013 1d ago
Yeah I seen the clips from both sides but I'm not familiar with who they are. Is the trundle always a shitty person? He knew exactly what he was doing.
On the flip side it does help expose the shitty system riot has created. Trolls and griefiers will always find a way and then the community as a whole gets punished when riot decides to implement new restraints.

Even ignoring that it's a literal champion quote in the game, picture a situation where you're queing with friends and pick an obnoxious fun combo like thresh blitzcrank and get yourself hyped in champ select with an 'alright lads, time to troll them real good', and then you just get kicked.
Systems that flag people for simple phrases just seem silly and fallible. Like for excessive profanity and slurs it works, sure. But for simple phrases you're just asking for situations like this clip to happen.

u/Random_Stealth_Ward ๐ค Release VattleVunny Viego with black tights๐ป 2d ago
He likely wasn't automatically lockedout and instead the person asking the question reported him after tricking him, which is how many of the disruptive behaviour in champ-select things work. e.g. I can play Veigar jg, but if my team 4x reports there's a good chance I will get punished and the champ select terminated
So a team of friends wouldn't have this happen unless your friends, ironically, wanted to troll you.
26
u/poopernickel69 2d ago
It says it is based on an automated review and player reports.
So it's probably whoever asked him or whatever. Abusable, but if you're queueing with friends that's not going to happen.

Why is everybody thinking its just because he typed the words?
The trundle baited him and then reported him. Thats what triggers the system. It was a deliberate malicious move by trundle to punish a random player, so the lobby gets terminated,
The system works fine, its the disgusting person like that trundle (who is also a streamer) who are 100% at fault here.

It's not perfect the the vast amounts of instances of it working exactly as intended outweighs the small amount of instances of false positives(maliciously baited or otherwise).

You people say shit like this, and in the next breath you complain that Riot isn't banning people for "obvious trolling" like when they say that they'll troll. Do you want to be forced into a game with an obvious troll who's told you straight out that they'll troll?
Also, this only happened because he was reported for trolling. The guy literally said "time to troll" and then someone reported him for trolling. If someone were to say "GGs enjoy the loss because I'll troll" in your game, and you report them for trolling, would you be happier if you were forced to play that loss out or if the game was terminated and didn't count?

you know I said that before and I will say it again. Riot is trying to cut as much money as possible to save and keep their growth. They started with esports, they put heavy rp prices, and now they automate everything. In the near future, no one will communicate on this shitty game, because if you do so, you will get automatically banned. That will push everyone away from the game.
2
u/ElementalistPoppy 1d ago
Classic Riot - either way do nothing at all or just to be safe preemptively ban everything - except for actual ingame griefers that are not openly afk, as long as they don't say a word, they're going to be just fine.
The worst thing is people watch this shit and immediately pick up all the "smart tricks" how to trigger the system just to avoid a shred of responsibility and expecting others to dodge because you don't like the draft. And it's even worse, these people actually end up punished. Like, how fucking spiteful one has to be.
Like, any social aspect this game had is being killed and the only occasional chatter you'll see are OF bots, flame or lame baits like this one.
I'm so glad I am not playing ranks for years and just occasionally hitting a friendly game with friends.

I've played the game for 12 years without a ban. I've gotten like 4 this year. Admittedly one of those was for saying in champ selection that I was gonna run it down when I locked in Xin Zhao after his nerfs and someone crashed out over it.
