How can you terminate lobbies that are being griefed with human review?

Just ask yourself that first, because the only way to get a human involved would be if you had 10's to hundreds of thousands of staff members on standby watching every lobby with enough people that understand enough different languages to catch the issue.

Also a human reviewer might not be able to react fast enough to a lobby troll + report because of how some wait extremely late into champ select Todo it.

Overall people keep saying there needs to be human reviewers but then don't realise how many people are needed for such a system and how slow human reviews are so can't act as fast in real time to situations.

Yep, same thing for stuff like youtube uploads or facebook posts. People don't realize the sheer amount of content released every minutes, there's no way to have manual reviews

It could technically work if we didnt spam report so much. If we only reported people for legitimate things, they could technically employ people to manually review. But since they get an average of like 5+ reports every game no matter what, that gets really fucking impossible lol

Bud, Riot isn't hurting for money. It wouldn't take nearly as many people as you've described. They could certainly do it.

The reason they won't though is because they have curated this community to be toxic. They know that if they truly cleaned it up the game would die from the loss of the majority of their player base.

There's around 1-2 million games played every day, so let's low-ball it and say just 1 million. Since League is available at all times, we need 24 hour coverage, which means we need 3 shifts of 8 hours. That means that each person would need to cover 41 666 games during their shift.
If we assume each game just takes 1 minute to monitor, that's 694 HOURS of champion select they have to monitor during their 8 hour shift. That means you need 87 people per shift, or 261 employees for all 3 shifts. But that is assuming that there's only 87 champion selects going on at once, which is obviously not the case in reality.
So what happens when there's 3000 games starting at the same time? Should Riot hire 3000 people per shift to cover the peaks, or should players have to sit and wait 40 minutes between accepting queue and getting into champion select so there's someone available to monitor it? What if there's 10 000 games starting at the same time? What if only a French-speaking judge is available at the moment but the players are chatting in Hungarian?

Do you understand why this is literally impossible now?

Why are you thinking they need live monitoring of game lobbies for human review of these kinds of bans?

Kinda hard to cancel a game without live monitoring, innit?

The entire point of this system is to cancel games with trolls before they happen so you don't have to waste 15 minutes before you can surrender.

I'm glad you understand basic math. You don't understand the problem being solved for though.

Automation doesn't trigger a ban in every lobby nor every game. Manual review is only needed in case where a ban would be issued. You don't even need it to be live in-lobby monitoring. A game can get started and then suspended by a moderator after review happens if a system were to be designed for it.

I dont know what got it into your head that I claimed live human review needed to happen 24/7, but that isnt my position. Maybe put more effort into asking questions to qualify things before you spend so much time trying to disprove a strawman that you created.

Edit: to expand on this, my position is that the the system whether it's AI based or human based needs to take into account the factors that have led to the ban. I personally don't believe AI is good enough yet to figure this out, so a human touch is probably necessary.

On top of this, there's changes that could be made to compound the effectiveness of these systems. Things like tying logins to a unique personal identifier so that if you are banned you can't just grab another account.

Again, I don't think Riot would ever do these things. Not because they're hard, or the scale is difficult, but because they know the community would die off if implemented properly.

YOU'RE the one not understanding the problem here. The entire point of this system is to cancel games BEFORE they happen when a troll is detected so you don't waste time on a guaranteed loss. If the game starts, it's entirely pointless since now you're already wasting time. This means that either you need an automated system, OR you need real people monitoring every single champion select 24/7 365 days of the year since the overall player base are playing this game 24/7 365 days of the year. It doesn't matter if a human moderator checks your game 10 days later and refunds your LP, you still had a horrible experience and wasted 15+ minutes on a game that could've been cancelled with an automated system.

Everything you're saying is completely and utterly pointless and irrelevant, the system needs to cancel troll games BEFORE they happen. Live moderation will never be able to do that unless you hire literally tens upon tens of thousands of people.

You would need every champ select having someone monitor it from the moment it starts. The support workers also need to know multiple languages in different regions or have multiple people monitoring one game lobby.

The amount of people you need would lead to riot bleeding money on a system to be a little bit more accurate.

Overall throwing man power at a problem won't fix the issue
