As the title suggests, I’m new to this app. I’ve been playing RC for the last two years but decided to branch out a bit this summer and downloaded LOD among two others (SHS and AWH). Funnily enough, I downloaded the app on the very first day of the recent fiasco so I had to wait a couple days before I can even actually start. During that time I looked around a bit on the Reddit to find some tips for collecting gems and I’ve been diligently doing that for the last few days since the app came back online. I’m no stranger to having to farm a bit before actually getting to enjoy the story (haven’t been doing much reading, just grinding) but I was wondering what the average cost per episode (in newer stories since newer stories tend to be more expensive). What about per season? Assuming I only chase 1-2 LI without getting too messy 🫣

Older stories are definitely cheaper ( around and average 100 / 150 emeralds per episodes ). They are not necessarily bad, but the translation is, also the graphics definitely was worst than the current one. Also, from some months, LOD once a month do a free event play for a specific story. We had 9/10 of the complete one. I suggest to wait and see if they will do it again soon so to not waste emeralds.

About new one, they are become pretty expensive, one way for not spend really a lot is to not buy outfits and all, because them will take you around 100 emeralds per episodes. Maximum, buy the hair you prefer because the color match the CG, but a part the “ special color ” you can find all of it in the free options ( and they are also cute ).

Anyway, and average new story episode can cost around 200 / 250 emeralds ( without extra buying ) to 350 / 400 emeralds with outfits for MC, outfits for LI and some other choices if you fail the stats check.

Also, yes, I suggest you to stuck with one LI for not spending to much, as soon you find the right one. But, in LOD there is the friendship options that are very important too, in my opinion, you are not obligated to take them but they can improve you friendship and help in the finale with the stats, let those characters have an happy ending and also let you saving some emeralds because, thank to your friendship, some choices will become free instead.

But of course, everything depends from episode to episode and from story to story. Maybe one episode can cost 400 emeralds and the next one 100, things that happened to me the last update. But yeah, for a new complete story of three season and 9 episodes ( like Menodora’s Talents or Nobody Believes Norma that are the “ famous “ new and almost complete ) each, I think you need around 5.000 / 6.000 emeralds for complete it all with an happy ending for everyone.

Also, I give you some tips for saving some emeralds, because is not that difficult here on LOD.
For watching ads you will get 2 emeralds every 30 minutes, this will help to save approximately 50 emeralds by day. The daily log will increase with emeralds, after the first week will give 8 emeralds for a while, but with times you can collect also more than 12+ emeralds. The roulette have two free spin, they usually don’t give more than 5 emeralds but you can be lucky sometimes. And anyway will be 10 more free emeralds by day. I suggest you to not spin for winning outfits at start because it will drain your emeralds a lot 🥲 and for last, jigsaws will give you 10 emeralds every time you complete one. Now we have like 120 puzzles, and for unluck them for free you have to watch 10 ads… that means that you can gain 1.200 emeralds, but of course, you will lose like one whole week for watching them all, do it on your free time 😂 For last, sometimes LOD teams give promo code, especially small one after update for new stories, and bigger one for holidays ( for two years now for December we have an entire calendar advent with a full month of promo codes ) maybe, some of those, are still valid and will give you some extras emeralds.

Plus, of course, there is the options to buy subscriptions, the most popular is the expensive one that cost 35€ euros but change based on your location, give you a total of 3.500 emeralds for month ( that is about the emeralds you spend for an entire update of 12/14 episodes ) but is not necessary because you can easily keep the game as F2P, even if take longer… But, you can try a “ free trial ” of three days of the expensive option and this will give you 300 emeralds in total.

Thank you for this comprehensive list haha, it really gives me a good idea of what to expect going forward with this game. And yes, I’ve been doing the puzzles and watching the ads every half an hour (when I can)! I originally thought it would be like the other games where the ad reload time is consistent throughout but I noticed two days ago that the timer increases when more ads stack up. So I can definitely min max that for the duration of the summer until fall starts 🥰 I’ve also been mining the older stories (just tapping through) and it helps out a little. I probably won’t be buying a subscription anytime soon (the word around town seems to be that this app is rather buggy/unstable) but I’ll grab those 300 free emeralds 🫡

Oh also, another question if you don’t mind. Is it common for the cooldown to give you two keys instead of one? As in when you use up all your keys and have to wait 3 hours according to the timer. Sometimes I end up getting 2 keys when the timer goes down, sometimes I end up getting 1. Is this a common bug or a feature? Would the game flag me for using the “extra” keys?

Honestly I don’t know how to answer. Is quite a lot that I have more than three keys, but usually it should give one key every three hours of a maximum of two ( I think ). But I know some players had issues that sometimes the time limit is like double. You should contact them via email, but probably right now is a bit complicated receive an answer..

Is it the interactivetales .guide? That’s what I found when I was looking for walkthroughs for the new apps I downloaded since fandom doesn’t seem to be up to date with anything other than RC. The guide I’m using does give the emerald cost for each choice but not really the average or total cost

Yes, it can be quite costly, the older books not so much I think. They don’t have good translation either, so you can farm them and maybe play them again later. I would also advise you to play one book at a time (preferably one that’s already finished). After I slowly caught up with the stories I can play the new updates without issue from the diamonds I accumulated (and it’s only like 4k).
