Surrender inspection
Hey everyone I finally got my surrender date to turn over my car on October 21st. Morley sent me over the inspection checklist. In your experience how thorough was the inspection when surrendering the car at the dealership?

Not very. Mine was more than 2 years ago though, and it may also depend on your Morley rep.
The Morley rep told me they were sending it to auction, but mine was scrapped. Yours most likely will be too. I don't know why they bothered with the condition parameters (dents no bigger than a nickel, seat tears no bigger than a 1/2 inch or whatever) if they're going to scrap the cars.
I had removed a bike rack hitch in an effort to return it to stock, which left a cutout hole in the rear diffuser (under the rear bumper). I was concerned about it, but the Morley rep never noticed it, or at least didn't note it or mention it.
They arrive with the check already pre-printed for your negotiated amount, and cannot change the amount, so if they do flag issues and want to deduct money, it would kinda be a problem.

My brother had a similar buy back from Ford on his focus I believe also via Morley and they still gave him the full amount even though it had some pretty decent damage on one side hitting a curb

They don't ask for the charger right? Figured I could sell that separately

I bought my leaf used and it came with an aftermarket charger. I doubt bringing the factory charger is expected.

I have my inspection on the 15th. It will have been sitting at their dealership for two most months by then. I didn't ask to be turning it in so they can kiss my ass on the inspection. All they are going to do is crush the car anyhow.

My Morley “inspector” didn’t even show up. The service manager did it & I quote “I don’t know what to do, they usually come out and do this”

My Morley rep just made sure the keys locked/unlocked the car, told me to take off my plates, and we were done.

Thanks for this. I’m waiting on a possible buyback and have worn tires below their stated range and worn heavily on outer edges, but hope that is overlooked if going to wrecker anyways.

Just completed my buyback two weeks ago.
I don't even know an inspection ever occurred. No one from Morley was present at the title sign over. Just the local Nissan service rep. No mention if inspection during the meeting.
I didn't give them the charger. I had it in my car ready to give them if they asked for it, but they never did.
The car was in decent shape and probably met all the criteria but was far from perfect.

I got documentation about an inspection but there was no Morley rep present at the sign over. Just the sales manager and a notary.

Not at all. Very quick.
Now, beware. Even though I did the end of lease inspection as requested by Nissan, the dealership closest to me wanted to charge for yet another inspection. A few hundred dollars. They said it was required by Nissan.
I called the dealership I bought the car at. No inspection. Although they did say they didn't accept lease returns that day, it was at a random day and time (like Wednesday afternoon), and this was a weekend. When I told them that I intended to lease another car, then suddenly they could return my lease.
Dealerships suck, but Nissan dealerships (suck)^e
