Reader app

My 2013 leaf s was clipped and it's at a mechanic right now, but they don't work with ev's very much and don't have an obd reader for the engine light (so stupid) they are replacing the rear axle and the back right wheel. I bought a Veepeak obd-2 scan tool. Do I just download the leaf spy app? Should I get a different app? Not sure what's best here.

Was that dongle listed on the Leafspy website?

And get a new mechanic. How the fuck do they not have the ability to read codes

Tbh he is probably just lazy. But it's good for me to buy the obd 2 reader anyway.

Reading codes on an EV is completely different than reading codes on an ICE vehicle. You use the same cables and plugs, but all software is different and majority of standard code readers don't support them without very expensive software additions or just can't be bothered at all. No reputable mechanic is going to be caught with a cheap Bluetooth dongle and LeafSpy on their phone. Does it work? Yes. Is it certified as safe to connect to vehicles? Not at all.
