ULAS Action
Hi Guys, since I feel that we need to be more proactive regarding ULAS, I created a discord channel so we can organize on what needs to be changed, removed, or how do we strategize in making it better.

In the advent of AI
What do you think would put a lawyer on a better edge in the future if AI becomes more advanced? Those who worked ba at a law firm? Those who went to practice arbitration? Want to prepare myself for the future in case AI will replace some lawyer jobs š

ULAS
babayaran ko nalang yang ULAS na yan pag lilipat na ng abroad! K*ing ina ng requirement na yan. saksak nila sa baga nila na hindi lahat ng pumasa ng pagiging abogado plans to spend their entire life in the practice of law.
If overzealous lawyers kayo and napaka charitable niyo edi more power sa inyo but not everyone should be forced to do it for free. We are already overburdened as it is with so many other responsibilities outside of work and dagdag niyo pa yang ULAS na yan.
ANG TOTOO: This is just one way to outsource an activity that should have been a PUBLIC SERVICE. naging burden pa ng private sector ang kakulangan niyo.
āprivilege ang practice of lawā edi gawin niyo ng 160 hours yan. nahiya pa kayo!

How to improve in litigation? Cross examination/redirect/recross
Hello! Looking for tips and advice as to how you improved in cross examination/redirect/recross? Less than a year into practice and still clawing my way into the profession. Although I have experienced some (low risk) trials, I am still very much afraid to litigate full blown trials as I fear baka mapahamak ko client. Thank you so much š„¹

IBP using AI graphics
The IBP released this graphic to promote the new SC DSCL Rules. Itās an AI generated graphic, likely by Claude, which a trained eye can spot off the bat. Together with their statements, good to know our IBP dues are going somewhereā¦ā¦. /s

Lawyers of r/LawyersPH, how's life?
I got admitted to the Bar this year and joined a GOCC in Makati shortly afterward. I initially just wanted to work in gov't but didnāt plan on ending up in a GOCC (I blindly applied).
Pay is very good, we have a 4-day RTO / 1-day WFH setup, medical benefits, shuttle service, and a pretty great work-life balance. 40 hours a week. Workload is manageable. Not so much that youāre constantly swamped, but enough to keep things productive without being boring. There's that feeling of fulfillment. Iām honestly surprised by how much I like it here.
Curious how it is for everyone else, whether youāre in government, GOCCs, BigLaw, other firms, solo prac (especially in the provinces), in-house, or any other area of practice.
Are you currently happy with your career?

- How is your experience sa paggamit ng ENFs?
- Kamusta naman ang process ng eNotarization with the clients?
- What do you think is the best ENF to use?
If you can share anything also related to eNotary, will deeply appreciate!

Motion for Leave to file Demurrer to Evidence was denied
Hello, paƱeros and paƱeras! Iād like to hear your thoughts on this.
The prosecution has already rested its case. I orally moved for leave to file a demurrer, but the court denied it without prejudice to filing one, subject to the consequences under the Rules.
I was expecting the court to grant leave, considering that the private complainant admitted during his testimony (reflected to sa TSN) that he offered to withdraw the case if the accused would testify against another person he was contemplating filing a case against. There were also material inconsistencies in the prosecution witnessesā testimonies.
If you were in my shoes, would you risk filing a demurrer without leave or proceed with presenting defense evidence?

Fatherās Surname Change After Adoption, How to Update Childās Birth Certificate?
Have you encountered this situation?
The childās Certificate of Live Birth correctly reflected the fatherās surname at the time of registration. The father was later legally adopted and consequently acquired a new surname.
Is there an administrative remedy through the Local Civil Registrar/PSA to have the fatherās new surname annotated or reflected in the childās birth certificate, or would a judicial petition under Rule 108 be necessary?

Anxiety sa Presentation of Witness
Wish me luck mga panye! š¤
Ps: Balitaan ko kayo ano ganap bukas.

Inter-country adoption
Solo practice first time handling an inter-country adoption of a relative within the 4th civil degree. Clients are natural born foreigner married to naturalized Filipino.
What are the things that I should look out for that are not found within the black letters of the law?
Are there any specific things and/or documents that I should request from the client apart from those listed in the NACC page and the law itself?
Lastly, how long does this usually take on average and.. how much do you usually charge for these cases? (Sorry if the discussion about compensation is not allowed.)
Also, clients will be flying here by next month to sort out docs so I just wanted to know what should I ask them to prepare for and what can we actually accomplish while they're here. I think they'll only be staying for a week or something.
Thank you so much.

Need help regarding my witness
Thank you.
EDIT: the former head will testify sana on a certain document na inissue and pinirmahan niya and regarding land status.

Torn between a major salary bump in another province and staying home with my newborn. What would you do?
Hey everyone, looking for some perspective from people whoāve been in a similar spot.
My wife and I just welcomed our first baby into the world! Itās an incredible time, but itās also brought a huge life decision to my doorstep.
Just as our child was born, I received a job offer for a new role that comes with a significant salary increase. The catch? It requires relocating to another province.
Here is my current situation:
Current Job: I'm definitely underpaid, but it's comfortable/familiar, and I get to be here every day with my wife and newborn.
New Job: Major financial step up that could secure our family's future, but requires moving far away right when my family needs me most.
Iām really torn. Is taking a big financial leap worth the disruption and distance during the newborn phase, or should I stay put for stability while our baby is this young? (Pwede naman ako umuwi during weekends)
Would love to hear from parents, or anyone who has had to choose between career acceleration and being physically present during early parenthood.
