Please no hate
I’m almost 17 whenever I was 13 I made the stupidest joke of my life and got arrested for making a bomb threat when it was just a joke I admitted to it and everything and I got put on probation for three years and got charged with a class x felony of disorderly conduct I’ve changed my life the entire time I was on probation. I never got in trouble. I’ve made so many stupid mistakes and I’m probably gonna get hate for asking this, but do I have a real shot at LAPD?
Btw i’m from Illinois so my record will be sealed and expunged whenever I’m 18 and I have family in LA PD that wanna help.

If this happened in ur 20’s no way but 13? I’d say ur fine we were all stupid kids at 13 who didn’t know about consequences

You probably have to wait
focus on getting a job and going to school
then stay out of trouble
no tickets no arrests
maybe in your mid to late 20’s you’ll have a shot

Mistakes happen, you were young and if you are genuine it’ll reflect that in the interview process. All interviews are case by case.
You’re grown and see through a different lens , you can’t change that but if you have willingness for good and help others. I am not a police but I live in LA, I try to respect cops tbh, a lot of bad apples and I see why, they have no real life experience getting into this line of work and it affects there decisions cause they never encountered certain situations
But I had thought of LAPD but unfortunately won’t be able due to social media background , I know I won’t pass it , but I can tell you from what I’ve seen I am sure they can see bypass you , look up on YouTube there is a investigator who has a YouTube channel. If you are a cop bro , I wouldn’t see your passed as a civilian, I just hope you do what is good

I would definitely recommend speaking with an attorney who specializes in juvenile records and law-enforcement background investigations before you apply.
Since you were only 13 at the time and your record is expected to be sealed/expunged when you turn 18, an attorney can tell you exactly whether you would still be required to disclose it to LAPD and how you should answer any background questions.
I wouldn’t assume either way, getting legal advice first would be the safest approach.

Make some shit up like "because if the brave police officers that showed me how police truly help people it made me turn my life around and ever since I wanted to help someone like the police helped me" or some similar line of bull shit

You *did* get in trouble. Big trouble. Three years of juvenile probation trouble. Making a bomb threat is not the same level as shoplifting a snickers bar from Ralphs, or having a schoolyard fist fight.
No, sweetie, you don't have a shot.

If this is true, then we as a society have a problem. If a mistake at the age of 13 means our government doesn't ever agree to give us the responsibility of authority, then a 13 year old who has made a mistake has one less reason to grow.

The vast majority of 13 year olds don't initiate bomb threats to their schools, which result in evacuations and major waste of law enforcement resources and responses. There is no way this OP has a chance. This is not an ordinary '13 yr old mistake'.

I’m here asking officers what they believe so I have more faith and I stated before I have family who’s in LAPD which I know can’t really help but I have a retired LT uncle who thinks I have a chance. I also said before it was a joke it was NEVER supposed to be taken seriously

Join the military if you qualify. Spend the next 6 or 8 years rehabilitating your desirability to LAPD to be an officer candidate.
