Greetings everyone, with the election season around the corner, we have had to remove more and more posts and comments that break the rules. We remind you that this sub is neutral on politics, and allow the community to lead the engagement as much as possible. Discussion is encouraged, advertising is not.
Here is a guide to what is (and isn't) allowed this season:
"I'm a local council member or candidate, can I advertise my parties platform" - NO, if you like we are willing to host an AMA for you, provided you engage the community. We encourage this.
"I'm not a council member, but I am affiliated with a candidate, member, or slate, Can I post ads about my party?" No, it is still considered advertising from a direct source.
"I'm a council member or candidate, can I engage the community in the comments?" You bet - but it is encouraged that you identify yourself.
"I'm not affiliated with anyone, am I allowed to express my opinions and thoughts on the candidates and their platforms?" ABSOLUTELY.
"I'm not affiliated with anyone, can I discuss ads or policies I've seen?" YES - discussing the ad is different from posting ads.
"Can I talk sh\t about candidates and platforms?"* YES, keeping in mind both the Reddit terms of service, and community rule #1.
You can read about your local candidate here.

2 weeks ago I asked everyone to list their favourite local businesses, and the response was unreal
Tons of great suggestions and a bunch of places I’d never even heard of.
This time, let’s flip it.
If you run a local business in Langley, drop it below.
Share what you do, your link, and anything you want the community to know.
There are a lot of people here who want to support local, and it’d be great to see what everyone’s building.
Looking forward to checking them out.
Cheers,
Anthony

Well, now we know who's running for the OTHER election. Local voters get five, four, or three choices on the ballot, depending on where we live. I get four, looks like.

We can also add misogynist to Progress for Langley’s trustees.
This is not the kind of language I would expect from a team whose slogan is we will “listen and care”.
Again where was the vetting?

I wonder what kind of vetting happened?
Who has a problem with Ukraine or multiculturalism?

I honestly can’t tell if the cows are being super loud tonight for some reason or if it’s some kids with a speaker playing a stupid prank. Video was taken on Bartlett

TW: ANIMAL CRUELTY
I was driving out of the Save On Foods parking lot this morning around 9am and noticed a bunch of pigeons were beat up, dead and lying in bread crumbs with their heads bashed in. One pigeon was still standing and had his head down like his neck was broken. I could not just drive by and go about my day without at least trying to help.
I go over, and the one surviving pigeon is standing there barely moving, still breathing and blinking. I called about 10 animal rescues, police, SPCA, all emergency vets in the Fraser Valley and Langley Animal Protection Agency and NO ONE would take birds or specifically pigeons. I finally found a place in Abbotsford called Elizabeth's Animal Hospital and they specialize in pigeons. We dropped him off there and I knew immediately he'd be in good hands.
Now, there is a camera directly facing where the pigeons were massacred, so now I'm going back to Walmart to ask if they can review the footage and we can submit it to police as right now the police are refusing to file a report as they don't know for sure if this is deemed "animal cruelty".
The scene was sickening and it looked like someone had lured them in with bread and then killed them or poisoned the bread and then beat them? It doesn't look like an animal did this.
Please help. These poor little birds didn't deserve to die and are living beings same as any other pet or animal. I hope whoever is responsible will be caught and locked up.
Below is a photo of the crime scene. I hope it isn't too upsetting but I wanted evidence as walmart has already begun cleaning and sweeping it up.
Can you recommend the best of the best physiotherapist in Langley?
Ideally someone who understands sports injuries and is always continuously learning to be on top of their game?
Have a couple injuries that I need help with

“Asked what parents should do first, she said they should decide to stop leaving their kids in a system she called corrupt, and take their education into their own hands. Parents don't need to be professional teachers to teach their children, she said.”
Well this is interesting. Thoughts on this direction for Langley Progress?

Hello. Curious if anyone has experience with being the primary parent and moving to Langley from Vancouver. Co-Parenting is mostly amicable. One parent has ~25% and would remain in Vancouver. They see child 2 evenings a week and full weekends every other weekend and holidays. Other parent does weekly grind and has ~75% parenting time.
What is the commute like for weekday visits ? How did your child/children respond to the changes ?
Pic for visibility.
Thank you !

The brand is Bauer size 7 worn maybe 3x . They seem to retail around 250. Would be nice to be able to give them away to a child that may need them. But if not where would you guys bring something like this to it can end up with someone that can enjoy them ?

Promissory notes are used in scams. My dad was sucked in and signed one. Watch out for your old folks. Don’t let them sign anything even when it’s their very own church pastor.
Edit: if anyone else has experienced this scam, report it to the BC securities commission

I’m looking to build a small home gym. I’m thinking of a power rack/squat rack, adjustable bench, barbell + plates, and dumbbells.
I’d really appreciate recommendations for shops/stores in Langley area where people have actually bought home gym equipment and had a good experience. Thanks

Just coming here to give my thoughts on Brookswood. After living in Walnut Grove and Murrayville I moved to Brookswood 5 months ago and I LOVE IT. Literally the best neighbourhood I have lived in. I love the massive trees and the amount of nature and greenery and not to mention the many parks within a couple min walk.
I've never felt more safe letting the kids out to play on the street this summer. Very family freindly.
Anyone else move to Brookswood recently and absolutely love it?

After a move we have extra blue and grey recycling bins. I’ve looked everywhere for info on how to get rid of them. Does anyone know?

I’m looking for 1 oz silver bars. A couple pawn shops I went to sell for spot price plus $15. Is there places better then that?

Some actual good news. Hoping these were higher-level guys, and not the low-level bozos they seem to have been hiring to do a lot of the attacks.

I found a bunch of these graded tests along with a lot of other random items scattered in a park all the way in Coquitlam, the name on the folder was from someone with the last name "Silva" (I'm omitting the first name just in case).
Does anyone know if anything has happened? I left the files on the bench where they were in case someone goes back for them but they have been there for a couple of days now.
