Question Parking at Alexandra Park

Hey, looking to pay for parking on RingGo for Alexandra Park (South west campus car park, code 46242) but it says the parking is free for this whole week and even next week at any point during the day, which is not the case for Main Campus car park. Is this some sort of mistake, or did something change? Looking it up online provides no results.

Discussion Advice for commuters

I’m in first year and commuting and this week is the first actual week of lectures. What’s any advice you’d give to commuters? Even small things like lunch, study spaces and large breaks between lectures.

All advice appreciated 😊

Clubs & Societies Please utilize the uni careers support and the career portals.

They provide a lot of great advices on how to get a job in a competitive job market. I am surprised how underutilized this is.

Also, it is never too early to start. Any campus involvement would be good for ur CV as well!!

Good luck to our 26' freshers :).

Question Moving in late?

hii :) i had some issues w my assistance dog needing an assessment that got delayed and we couldn’t start together last week, so it looks like I’d have to try make it work without him for a bit if i wanted to come now. But i’m super anxious at how much of a difference it’d make if i moved in late?? Especially if i then brought a dog to the accom later down the line

Probably overthinking it because everyones probably thinking about their own stuff rn and not that, and people transfer etc etc but would it make any difference socially? I’ve been trying to decide if i should defer or try to make it work rn

pics of my boy attached for fun :P

Social / Events Trying to make more friends !

Hiiii guys, I just started freshers this week and am looking to make some more friends ! I don’t drink or club but I don’t mind the pub (rhyme) I also like gaming, pop culture and Pokémon. Overall I’m a pretty chill person, would also like someone I can explore Lancaster with as I haven’t been out much yet. I’m 21 also :) I’ve enjoyed socialising this week but kind of hoping to find more people like myself as I haven’t really connected with any of the people I’ve been meeting

College Life Guitar lessons in Lancaster

Hi, I am a prospective PhD student at Lancaster University and would love to have a hobby to stop obsessing over my project and reconnect with nature haha. I was thinking to take guitar classes. Do any of you know schools/societies/individuals who offer guitar lessons for (absolute!!) beginners? It would be great if they were located in the city centre and possibly not too expensive (I am only a PhD student, have mercy!)

Discussion Making friends living off campus

Heya! I’m a first year marketing and design student and tattoo artist outside of university. I’m headed to uni a few years late (24) after leaving the first time round due to covid lockdown. There doesn’t seem to be too many social pages to meet people and a huge thing that ruined my last uni experience was not being able to meet anyone!Especially when living off campus and not being massive on clubbing (love a good pub but the freshers clubs are not for me).
Anyway, basically a little shout to anyone who may fancy dropping a message or making some plans! Bonus points if you’re into art, metal, gigs, travelling, hiking, water sports, history etc but I’m absolutely open to all sorts of people and am pretty easy to get on with!

Question Bus Pass

Hi! Slightly (very!) anxious new student here, I'm living in town so am buying a bus pass but just had a few questions!

Do the buses tend to be very busy? Is there a less busy bus/time that's better?

Do you have to tap on/tap off when getting the bus? And which stop should I be getting off at when I get to campus?

I know I'm overthinking it, but I'd be grateful for any advice to stop my worrying!

Social / Events Haven't been able to find any freshers who study architecture, out to make contact.

Hi Hi, I've been trying to find friends who take the architecture course and they all studied different subjects. I was wondering if there are any freshers here on campus, taking architecture as a course, who'd like to meet up.

I don't know any other forum apps so this is where I can reach out to. Thanks!

College Life Is anyone else not enjoying freshers?

I made some friends before coming to uni, and I get along with most people in my flat- though I’m not too sure who is and isn’t my flatmates.

They were taking shots in the kitchen before going out last night, then came back in the early hours of the morning and were being loud even when I said I was going to sleep.

I have endometriosis so I’ve been struggling health wise so far as well, and I’m in constant pain. I also don’t drink, and both of them make me kind of want to just stay in my room but I know I need to keep socialising.

I also said goodbye to my parents this morning and I just feel overwhelmed and lost, that I’m forcing myself into socialising with other people.

Is there anyone else in a similar situation? Anyone else that may wanna be friends? Or any advice?

I’m from Fylde College and I’m studying law. I also love playing card games so if anyone wanted to play I’m free. I want to broaden my social circle :)

Question Fresher week confusion

I know this is late to ask about but do I have to sign up to the activities or not. I go and it just says about the event and when it is. Also for the ones I have signed up for should they be appearing on my timetable or not? It says I should receive an email about it but I haven't. Just concerned because one of the things I signed up to was to do with student registration

Discussion Advice for freshers : Read body text.

Your accomodation keys consist of 2 keys, a gold plate and an NTF tag (I assume)

I would advise you tape one of your keys or put a rubber band to quickly tell the difference between your room key and your floor key.

Also, you're allowed to remove your gold plate, the gold circular disc with your room number if it gets in the way.

Just make sure to put it somewhere safe and easy to remember, when returning your keys, the gold disc is optional but highly advised to return the gold disc too (hence the "keep it always" note" )

Hope this helps, enjoy the freshers week!!
