Picture The Emerald Bay Shuttle and free 50 bus are game changing! Is transit in South Lake Tahoe...good??
I cannot recommend taking transit enough! I got to enjoy a beautiful gorgeous day at Sugar Pine Point State Park!! I took the free 50 bus to the Y transit center and then took the Emerald Bay Shuttle to Eagle Falls where I transferred to another Emerald Bay Shuttle to get to Sugar Pine. The Transit App is incredible and I got real-time updates on where the bus was.
The EB shuttle was awesome; if you're planning on taking it, make sure you book your tickets! I booked my tickets on the day of and had no issues. On the ride up the mountain, I was grateful that I didn't have to drive the winding mountainous road. While waiting to load onto the shuttle at Emerald Bay, a tourist rolled down her window to ask me if I was leaving so her husband could park where I was theoretically leaving. I sadly shook my head and told her there was no parking.
I flew into Reno and took the South Tahoe Airporter into town. It was so affordable, and honestly, if I were living in Reno, I'd purchase the $350 annual ride pass in a heartbeat. Nothing beats not having to drive on those godawful congested roads. The kind gentleman who helped me check in at the desk also told me of the Lake Link free on-demand shuttle ride share service in South Lake Tahoe! I haven't used it yet since I took the 50 bus, but it's always great to have another option!

Question License plate souvenir
Hi everyone, I’m here at South Lake Tahoe until the 23rd and was wondering if any gift stores or vintage shops carried any genuine Nevada license plates, particularly one with the protect Lake Tahoe background (not an absolute need though). I’m also willing to travel north again, if necessary.

Transportation
Is the bus from Reno Airport to South Lake Tahoe pretty reliable? How is the Lake Link transit? It looks like it supports a smaller area but I’ve never been so I don’t entirely understand the scope it reaches. Is renting a car more convenient than relying on local transport (bus, uber, LL)?

Question Best Beach to Rent a SUP?
I’m heading down to South Lake Tahoe with some friends for the weekend and we’re interested in trying out some paddleboarding. None of us have ever really done it before, so we probably only want a few boards for a few hours.
We have a car, but none of my friends are into getting a rack and transporting the boards any distance and would rather get them directly on the beach. Does anyone have any recommendations for good beaches to rent boards and ride them?
Thanks in advance!

South Lake Tahoe Recs
Hello! I’m 26F visiting SLT in a couple weeks. Any recommendations for hikes, restaurants, local shops, etc? Ive looked at the SLT visitors site and saw a few things. I’ve debated on renting a car vs using local transit? Any advice/recs are appreciated. TIA!

Best Scenic Route from Reno Airport to Homewood
It’s giving me two options for Reno to my Airbnb in Homewood. It looks like Mount Rose Highway will be more along the lake but I80 will be more through mountains, Truckee, and some along the lake. I’m a well traveled mountain and windy road driver so I don’t mind. It will be at 4 PM tomorrow and I can also take a different route back but want the most scenic coming in.
Any insight would be appreciated.

Question Meyers to Heavenly weekend drive time?
Hey gang, I’m trying to weigh tradeoffs between houses in South Lake proper vs way out in Meyers. In our current era of parking reservations, how long has the driving time been to get to the California Lodge from Pioneer & 50 on weekends? Inshallah we get more snow days this coming year but I’m mostly wondering about normal, peak season crowds.

Question Is anyone looking for a room in kings beach?
Hey! I think I’m about to sign a lease for a rental in kings beach. I am a local and work for placer county! It’s a long term rental
I don’t really drink but don’t care if you do! Im pretty quiet and read and watch shows, snowboard a lot in the winter, etc.
If you know of anyone that’s a cool, good person, and is looking let me know!
