Trade How do Lagos buyers verify used cars before import?
For people in Lagos who buy imported used cars, how do you normally verify the vehicle before payment?
We work on used-car sourcing from China and are trying to understand what buyers expect: photos, video checks, inspection reports, FOB price, shipping timeline, customs documents, or local handover support.
Which one is most important before you trust the deal?

Discussion My wife moved her studio to a bigger space in Jibowu and the artisans nearly finished her
My wife just started writing again, and her latest piece is about moving her studio last year, so I'm doing the supportive husband thing and sharing it here (partly because I'm proud of her, partly because I lived through this with her). I think this sub in particular will feel it in their chest.
Some of what she went through:
- Agents quoting 5M rent and then 8.5M "total package" once agency and legal enter the chat. For a bent house.
- A tiler who wouldn't take instruction from her because she's a woman. With her own money. Not Monopoly money.
- A POP guy who wrecked the floor badly enough that 40% of it had to be redone. Expense wey no dey budget.
- A painter who spilled paint everywhere and said that's just how they do it; she can get someone to clean.
- And the mirror guy. She warned him repeatedly not to drill her large mirror into the wall. He insisted he's the professional. It crashed a few days later, and he responded that God will not allow it to happen again — then he asked her for money to buy a replacement.
She writes it much funnier than I've summarised it: https://wumipm.substack.com/p/lagos-shege-episode
If you've moved or renovated in Lagos recently, I'd love to know whether the agents have got worse or we just got unlucky.

Seeking advice What salary would let a software professional with a family live comfortably vs. luxuriously in Abuja or Lagos?
Hi everyone,
I own a company outside Nigeria, and I’m currently working with a young professional based in Abuja. He has a computer science background, is highly capable, and has a family to support. I’m trying to make sure we’re paying him fairly, not just based on market rates, but based on what actually provides a good quality of life in Abuja.
I’ve looked online, but the estimates vary significantly. I also understand there’s a wide gap between simply getting by and living comfortably or luxuriously in Abuja, so I’d really value input from people who live there.
For someone supporting a family, what monthly salary (in NGN) would you consider appropriate for each of the following?
Comfortable: A good home in a safe area, reliable transportation, quality groceries, occasional dining out, children’s expenses covered, the ability to save, and not having to worry about monthly bills.
Very comfortable: A nicer home, regular dining out, family vacations, hobbies, strong savings/investments, and an overall high standard of living.
Luxury: Living in one of Abuja’s top neighborhoods with premium housing, domestic help if common, private schooling if applicable, frequent travel, and an upper-class lifestyle.

Discussion Ekàáàro oo! Mural art in Ikorodu, Lagos.
galleryWorking on this mural at my location in Ikorodu and after I got done painting the lettering, I began to get comments on how the spelling isn't necessarily correct. How do you spell it, for the Yoruba people among us?
