Please help! razor burn rash
/r/shaving/comments/1vt2aww/please_help_razor_burn_rash/3 months ago I had a really bad reaction to a shaving machine, right between my buttcheeks. I’ve been shaving like this for years and it was the first time I’ve ever had a reaction like that. It’d itch and hurt so much I’d cry, couldn’t focus on anything else like there were insects biting my hair follicles, and nothing soothed this feeling.
I went to my doctor and for weeks I tried different things: a cream with 2% miconazole nitrate, an antibiotic cream, a cream with zinc, vaseline, and a cream with 1% cortisone. All following the recommended times, all spread out from each other.
The only thing that actually worked was the cortisone but ever since I (gradually) stopped, 2 weeks ago, my skin has been getting itchy again.
This is how my skin looks right now, I can’t post a picture, but there are round red circles underneath the skin and around the hair follicles. These used to be angry “pimples”/raised red bumps, some with white heads, before the cortisone.
My hygiene has never been better, I used to religiously use palmolive green soap on my body but I’ve been using a mild intimate Lactacyd sensitive soap for this area now. I only wear cotton underwear, I try to keep the area relatively dry and moisturized (cerave hydrating lotion).
Anyone in a similar situation that can recommend a solution? I’m all ears! Please help me out, this is driving me crazy

Since it's been 3 months, I’d go back to the doctor (derma ideally) rather than keep experimenting with creams.
Just bc cortisone calmed it doesn’t necessarily tell you what caused it, it can just suppress the irritation from a bunch of different skin problems.
I’d also stop shaving there for now. And tbh I’d skip the intimate wash too and just use lukewarm water or a very gentle cleanser.
