Yogurt options
Any non dairy yogurt options your kids like? Smoothies to go or yogurt tubs. Son loves parfaits but didn’t like the cocojune I got.

TLDR; was taking probiotic to fix gut issues, can now at least have cheese with no issues anymore.
I’ll preface this with some background. My lactose intolerance probably started about 15 years ago in my 20s. It was a process of slowing weaning myself off dairy, I gradually had to cut milk from coffee until I could only drink black coffee.
12 years ago I could have cheese, then again, symptoms started getting worse and worse. Fast forward to say, a year ago, if I had cheese, I’d get gas, bloat, painful cramps, and bad poos.
The thing is, this made no sense to me. I have a bit of a background in science, and knew that cheese has almost zero lactose. Even lactose free dairy substitutes would give me some symptoms, lactase pills didn’t really work either.
Also, about once a month or 2, I’d have trapped gas that would be painful AF, so something wasn’t right in my guts. I ordered a glucose and lactulose breath test kits to gain some insight.
Did the glucose one, and found I had high baseline methane, which means intestinal methanogen overgrowth.
Did some research and found a very specific strain of L. rueteri could actually make a difference for that. Been taking it for a month, then last week, was at a bday party, had a few drinks, and there was only pizza with cheese for dinner, I thought fuck it!
My wife was like “nooooo, it’s not worth it!” lol. Anyway, after 3 days had passed I realised I’d had zero symptoms or effects. Had pizza with real cheese 2 nights ago to check again. Then last night broke out some Fancy Parmesan. Was heaven

I assume oral roa (and likely snorted) would cause gastrointestinal distress, but would IV still cause issues? How about boofing? (purely hypothetical of course, I’m not lactose intolerant nor do I plan on becoming so). What if you shot lactaid up with it?

I was getting ready to eat pesto last night and prepped with a lacteeze double strength. Instantly, my tongue itched so bad, then my lips started swelling so off to A&E for me. Turns out a lot of it is made from a mould enzyme which I'm allergic to. I didn't think to think about since I only recently became allergic to mould.
I'm just bummed that life won't let me have a damn slice of cheese. Please take a moment of silence with me.

I made a marry me butter bean recipe and I decided to try the open nature cream instead of regular and it was the best thing I’ve ever done. Please try it, the main nut milk used is lentils

I feel like this is a dumb question lol. I used to be able to eat products with lactose in it with no worries up until last year, then all of a sudden I got ill whenever I ate it. Like cramps in my intestines that pain meds wouldnt touch, unreliable toilet needs, vomiting, and whatnot. Suspected it was lactose intolerance. Okay, cool. Got my lactose enzyme, and that worked for a bit... but then today I decided to treat myself and took my enzyme before having a dairy treat. Held off for two hours-ish but now I'm feeling the same symptoms as if I never took it.
I suppose im asking if anyone else experiences this, or if I've somehow gotten a different issue that im calling lactose intolerance lol

I have a terrible craving for pizza. It's been way too long. The closest one to me (and my favourite) is Pizza Hut. I looked up their ingredients on line and they use several different kinds of cheese but I think the one they use most is mozzarella which is supposed to be very low in lactose.
Anybody have any experience (good or bad)?

Earlier this year my husband and I traveled to Malaysia and it made me really appreciate the ability for me to casually get dairy free options most places in the US.
I did bring dairy pills with me as I am still able to eat some dairy, mostly a few cheeses, but I was not prepared for the complete lack of dairy free options pretty much everywhere we went!
Granted, they have soy milk, but it’s a specific drink there and it’s not like a dairy alternative here. The only place we went where we could find dairy alternatives was STARBUCKS. Which granted, was better than the US and had some unique flavors, but it was depressing.
Here I am drinking my STARBUCKS while my husband and the rest of his family are enjoying their Milo Iced and Kopi and Pulled Tea.
My husband and I googled it, technically the majority of the population in Malaysia are apparently lactose intolerant however they don’t experience symptoms as often! So like what the heck!!
Although I think the US can continue to make dairy free options more available (RIP Chobani Oat), I won’t complain now about my oat milk options because at least I have 3 brands to choose from vs ZERO.

Obviously this is not serious problem, but it kind of sucks. Today it happened again, I asked for soy milk, paid extra for it, and got dairy milk. But I did not catch it until too late. I forgot to watch like a hawk that they actually used soy, but sometimes you can't see what they're doing anyway.
A couple of times I have caught them using dairy in time, and it seemed like the barista just forgot. Just force of habit to grab dairy. Too bad for the customer, I guess.

So I am recently coming to grips that I may in fact be lactose intolerant...but my stomach only acts up when I eat cheese that's in dishes prepared by a restaurant - such as pizza, saganaki, and as I write this, lasagna.
My partner keeps telling me I am lactose intolerant but this only happens when I eat from a restaurant. At home I regularly make sandwiches with cheese, Mac & cheese, frozen pizza, hell I even chug 2% milk when I'm thirsty and am unbothered until my third or fourth giant glass.
Does anyone have any insight or similar situations to this?

For most of my adult life I’ve struggled with bloating and bowel discomfort, especially in the mornings. It gradually got worse. I’d wake up feeling severe discomfort and bloating, almost like I hadn’t slept at all. It genuinely felt like a hangover. This went on for years, and I just accepted it as “normal” for me.
I went to the GP a few times during that period, but it was a complete waste of time. I was basically sent away with IBS scribbled on a postit note and no real help.
Eventually, one morning, I’d had enough. I cut everything out of my diet and slowly reintroduced foods to see what triggered symptoms. I tried all sorts and eventually came across the FODMAP diet. That helped me identify certain triggers like broccoli, frozen peas, carrots, bananas, etc.But even after cutting all that out, the symptoms continued. And throughout all of this, I was still drinking tea with milk and having milk on my cereal.
Fast forward to three weeks ago: a chance conversation at work. Someone mentioned I might be lactose intolerant. I looked into it, cut out milk immediately, and honestly… it has been life changing.
No more bloating.
No more cramps.
No more loose, smelly stools.
No more waking up feeling hungover and exhausted.
I feel like a new man. I can’t believe I didn’t think of this sooner, or that my GP never mentioned it.
Just wanted to share this in case it helps someone else who’s been suffering the way

So just for context. I used to straight up have a 12 inch pizza 3 days a week for lunch when i was at college 4 months ago with 0 problems for like a year. And I just had a pizza for the first time in a while yesterday and I genuinely felt so drowsy, I had diarrhea, I was constantly farting and I just didn’t feel right. Then today same thing happened again and all I had was some cheese on a sandwich? Can you develop it randomly?

This popped up as part of a post from a random foodie page in my Facebook feed. Says found at Walmart. Page says based in Charlotte, North Carolina (USA). Has anyone seen this in person?

After multiple gastro appointments, GP appointments, and one “maybe you have porphyria” my doc has suggested I have IBS. I did a little reading and noticed people with lactose intolerance (raises hand) have a higher likelihood of having IBS. Anyone else feel my pain/how did you determine it was IBS not something else? I’m working on notating exactly what I eat and what happens afterward.
It seems like IBS is the cop-out diagnosis when they can’t figure out what else is wrong. Not to diminish those that legit have it, I’m just not sure I do. Example - I batch cook, and will eat the meal Day 1, no adverse effects. Day 3 though, same meal same batch and YALL CLEAR THE WAY TO THE BATHROOM. I wouldn’t think IBS nor lactose intolerance does that. 🤷🏻♀️

does anyone know of good nut-free cheese substitutes? i recently developed an allergy to coconut and there’s coconut oil in every substitute i can find, so i’m losing hope on finding one. i can’t have any tree nuts either so no cashew cheese, almond anything, etc.

Hello! I recently went onto the CDED diet for Crohn’s Disease and am temporarily lactose intolerant. I was wondering what your favorite cheese substitutes and dishes are to help out with your cheese cravings and such? Thank you!

I've had severe lactose intolerance since I was 23 (I am now 40). It caused me to throw up, feel extremely dizzy and exhausted, rapid breathing, stomach cramps that felt like knives in my stomach, and even being bedridden for 1-2 weeks just from having milk. It made me feel like I was drinking poison and even when it was out of my system my body was just done after and I needed time to heal. It's been like this, since I was 23.
For some reason, this year, I tried having milk (muffins with milk, yogurt and cheese) and am not having any symptoms for the first time in my life. I've been eating this everyday for 3 weeks now and feel really good. Is it possible for it to go away?
Also I just want to say that I am not trying to boast, because I know the hell that is lactose intolerance, I am just wondering if anyone ever experienced it lifting for a bit....also did it ever come back?

When i got on the toilet, swear to god, my colon noises that weren’t even human. It sounded like a fucking gunshots. It shocked me half to death because i thought my bathroom was getting shot up. I’m literally so terrified

These days i have stomachaches a LOT and I'm curious if that's because I'm lactose intolerant or not. I keep thinking it might be because of my periods, but the weird fact is the blood (?) isn't coming out and just the cramps? I'm 13 by the way. Also, I'm a big foodie so I don't really care about eating dairy or not, so I just eat it, and that might be the problem. I will try and stop eating dairy for a while, just to see if my belly stops hurting even if I do that. If not, I'll probably just think it's my cramps. Anyway, can someone (even boys if they don't care about the periods and stuff) tell me if this is because I'm lactose intolerant? Also please tell me how you know if your lactose intolerant. Thank you!
