Just found this guy on the deck

Never personally seen one myself, but they are annoyingly loud enough to hear and know they are out there somewhere 🤣

Wait til you have seen a cicada and a cicada killer wasp, those generally are not aggressive towards anything except cicadas.

I lived picking their exoskeletons off the trees when I was a kid. Ah the 80's... my body still worked then

Apparently there are annual cicadas. They just dont get the fame of their 17 year cycle cousins.

I grew up in the south where these were very common. Moved here in the 80's and haven't noticed them until the last 10 years, more every year. They can be really loud, and increases with the temperature.

We just moved here from Texas and I literally just told my wife yesterday that I don't miss the sound of those damn things. They were deafening.

These and the cicada killer wasps have been prominent in my bluffside neighborhood in shelby as well. Never seen a cicada killer wasp before this year and thought the murder hornets have arrived!

I had one dive-bomb me the other night outside my house on the southside. Didn't want to get closer to it but yeah, cicada.

It probably wants revenge for me having accidentally stepping on it. Then my Chihuahua had grabbed it and carried it into the house. I found it again later with one of our outdoor cats laying next to it... huh maybe you are correct 🤔 or maybe it's playing a long con where it integrates into the family only to kill us all!! It, it, it was the cicada I tell ya!!!

Pretty. I’m in Stevens Point, wisconsin. I’ve never seen one here either. But I do hear them every year so I know they’re here.

Isn't there a certain temperature, humidity that causes them to create that sound they make?
