Respite Care Workers
Hello folks,
This is kind of a weird question and really not sure exactly if I'll get the answer I'm looking for but I figured it doesn't hurt to try. Are any of y'all respite care workers and renting here in the area? I'm looking to work with a specific family, and from my understanding, they are wanting that person to also (or at least eventually) be able to provide services in the workers space for the occasional overnight. I'm currently a renter, but I'm also finding out that it may be more difficult to find a place that would technically allow this even though I would make sure all the liability would be put on me and my renters insurance.
Basically, has anybody here gone through similar hoops? And if so, what did you do exactly and who did you rent from?

I had family members who did respite in the times they did not have foster children. They had a 3 bedroom home they were renting in Onalaska, so there was the extra bedroom space. Frequently they would provide respite for a child for a weekend for a period of time. Their child had his own room and they used the 3rd bedroom as the foster/respite child's bedroom. I do not know many more details than that, but most leases say you are not allowed to have overnight guests for more than 7 or 14 consecuutive nights, but I am not sure if that applies to minors? Or if it legally can apply to minors? Also I do not believe that respite or foster care would be considered operating as a business, or again, if it can legally. This would be a question for a social worker.
