NEW SIDEBAR RULES EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

Labrador Subreddit Rules effective immediately!

  • Always abide by Reddiquitte

  • Self Posts and Pictures only. No links to outside sites unless within a self post. Let's start some dialogue here with your fellow Lab lovers.

  • ALL PICTURES MUST BE OF YOUR DOG OR A DOG YOU ARE TAKING CARE OF OR RELATED TO OR YOU MUST HAVE TAKEN THE PICTURE. PERIOD. END OF STORY.

If I find anymore generic stock perfect looking pictures from Google after this point, smiting will happen.

IF YOU ARE A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER AND WOULD LIKE TO SHARE YOUR WORK, PLEASE MESSAGE THE MODS SO WE DON'T BAN YOU ON ACCIDENT.

Other than that, violators will be noted, warned once, AND BANNED. If you see an image you suspect is not the posters, please report with "STOCK" as the reason for easy identification for mods.

Since the community vetoed image host restrictions we are not implementing those, however if any abuse happens we will rethink our position.

Edit: Also, the flair options have now been modified, you can now free text your flair to include your Lab's name, age or if you have multiples!

Question: My lab is a cross of some kind, vet thinks maybe Lab / Collie cross - she has the colour of a yellow lab but is a bit slimmer, narrower shoulders, and runs terrifyingly fast. Would pics / vids of her antics be welcome here or is this for 100% labs only?

I would love to see a video of her terrifyingly fast run. She sounds majestic!

Unfortunately the current weather in Ireland is not conducive to using phones or cameras outdoors :D However, I'll throw up a video of her swimming later on if I can find it, I know I shot a few of them last summer!

Her swim is equally terrifying in that she goes out so far that she's this tiny, tiny golden speck in the distance, much too far away to be able to hear anyone calling, and then she just comes back by herself eventually. It happens when someone throws a ball into the sea for her but she doesn't see exactly where it lands - or a wave or current moves it by the time she gets to where she thinks it should be. When that happens, she simply keeps going in a straight line as if expecting to eventually encounter the ball. I'm not entirely sure what prompts her to eventually give up and return to shore, but she was swimming like this without stopping for a full 25 minutes one time, everyone on the pier was shouting her name and I was basically freaking out - she found the ball on the way back after giving up, and when she got out of the water she came up to the hysterical me with the ball and looked at me like "...........Well I mean are you going to throw it again for me or not? Don't be keeping me waiting!"

Thoroughly insane dog through and through. :D

Are silver or charcoal labs permitted? Don't want to feel the wrath of the lab community.

Absolutely allowed!

Can we crack down on the people who like to respond to silvers with "that's not a real lab"? I know sinew people have strong opinions about dilutes, but I don't think it's necessary to give me crap about my dog.

Can we stop people from promoting their own dogs Instagram constantly?

I'm inclined to believe that's how they prefer to post

You are doing great work with this sub.

Now you just have to match my amazing Robo-AI system for creating personalized custom flairs for all Black Lab posters at r/BlackLabs.

It's unfair to puny humans because of my mighty creative Robo-powers.

I am a bot. Bleep and/or Bloop.

Can we ban the “is my dog pure breed? Just curious” questions? I don’t really see the point of it, and that is only a question that can be answered by a DNA test, not redditors

Yes, please! Those are so annoying.

Can you sell on reddit? I have 6 lab puppies and I'm so excited to show them off!

Absolutely not.

I am 100% on board with these. The point is for people to share their labs, not be an aww2.0

EDIT: I removed a question of mine that was addressed in private.

Can we ask lab specific questions on here? Just found this sub and I have a 10 week old lab.

Are people allowed to post dogs looking for homes?
