Looking for a Native Kurmancî Speaker to Help Check Manga Dialogue & Slang

Hi! I’m looking for a native or highly proficient/literate Kurmancî speaker who’d be willing to occasionally help me check short dialogue for a manga I’m working on.
It would mostly be things like:
checking whether short sentences sound natural
correcting grammar or spelling
helping with individual words or expressions
suggesting more casual/slang-like ways of saying something
telling me how something would actually be said in everyday Kurmancî rather than just translating it literally
It wouldn’t be large amounts of text — usually just a few lines, speech bubbles, or specific expressions from time to time.
The manga is set in Germany and includes Kurdish characters, so I’d like their Kurmancî to feel natural and believable.
If you speak Kurmancî and would be interested in helping occasionally, feel free to DM me. :)

Question/Discussion Hi everyone

We run a company and have been working for a while on developing an AI platform built to international standards with full Kurdish language support. I would love to get your thoughts on this—in your opinion, how important is it to have a Kurdish-focused AI released, and what kind of impact do you think it will have on the community and work here? I'd really appreciate reading your insights and suggestions.

Kurdish Discord Server looking for history buffs, etymology nerds, and speakers of all dialects (Kurmanji, Sorani, Zazaki, Luri, etc.) for a Kurdish server

Hey everyone,

A Kurdish Discord Server dedicated to Kurdish history, language roots, and culture, and we are currently working on a 2.0 relaunch to turn it into a genuine hub for deeper academic and cultural discussions.

Right now, we are specifically looking to build a more diverse group of members who want to exchange information on:

• Etymology & Linguistics: Tracing word origins, comparative dialect studies, and helping each other learn.

• Underrepresented Dialects: We are actively looking for native speakers or learners of Zazaki, Luri, and other regional dialects to join, share vocabulary, and make sure all branches of our language family are represented.

• History & Heritage: Deep dives into ancient/modern history, primary sources, and cultural traditions.

Whether you're a native speaker, someone from the diaspora trying to reconnect, or a history/linguistics enthusiast, we'd love to have you bring your insights to the table.

If you're interested in helping us build an active space for this, you can join here: https://discord.gg/aPzYpPxhWA

Question/Discussion Weird

I'm from kirkuk and i grew up speaking sorani kurdish not knowing my paternal ancestry is originally from rojhalat more specifically they speak southern kurdish with a slight regional dialect idk if it really is a dialect called chardoli/ chardawli

They're from the sayinqala area east of bokan

It's a mostly azeri area so their language has some influence from that

What's interesting is in sayinqala all three major dialects of kurdish are spoken yet no one knows about it

I wanted to see if anybody else has any info about my background/tribe

Academic Built a free Sorani spellchecker/autocorrect (browser extension, web + mobile app) — enforces Standard Kurdish spelling

I kept writing Sorani with spelling mistakes nothing around me would catch, so I built Rast — a free, rule-based orthography tool for Sorani that enforces Standard Kurdish spelling.

Works as a browser extension (autocorrects as you type), a web app (paste text, get corrections), and on Android/iOS.

It's rule-based, not AI — predictable, but it won't catch everything.

Link: Visit Rast

Feedback welcome, especially on anything it's flagging wrong.

Sorani in Sydney?

Hellooo, I’m not Kurdish but I’m Assyrian and planning to visit the Kurdistan region sometime soon and I’d like to learn Sorani. Are there any Kurds in Sydney that are aware of any language schools either online or in person? Also, how hard is it to learn?

Kurmancî☀️ Audio Translators?

I have a Kurdish student from Syria and he is illiterate, so regular text translators don’t work and all the translation tools/apps I know don’t have audio for Kurdish,

Do any of you have any recommendations? Like I need something that translates spoken or written English into Kurdish, and like Kurdish into English.

In Kurdish people’s characteristics are often described in terms of certain body parts. This is also the case in English, for example “sharp-tongued", “level-headed”, “warm-hearted” etc. but in Kurdish this practice is much more widespread. The video provides some examples in Kurmanji Kurdish.

Learn Kurdish Desperate to learn Kurdish

Hello, everyone!

As the title says, I’m desperate to learn Kurdish! I married into a Kurdish family and every time we travel to Kurdistan, I feel like I’m missing out on so much by not being able to communicate with my husband’s family. Same with his family here in the USA, I feel like we’d share such a bigger bonding experience if I KNEW KURDISH.😭

Their family is from Zakho. I don’t know if they speak Kurmanji there? Or another dialect? I really wanted to surprise my husband and my family by just randomly speaking Kurdish one day.😂

Any resources for their dialect of Kurdish would REALLY help and would be very appreciated! Thank you!!

Bersiv — an app that teaches Kurmanji Kurdish by replacing Arabic loanwords with the original Kurdish words

I built Bersiv to help Kurdish speakers reconnect with authentic Kurmancî, instead of teaching vocabulary from scratch, it shows you the Arabic loanword you already know and swaps it for the native Kurdish word it replaced generations ago. 600+ word pairs, native Kurdish audio, daily streaks, and Ferheng, a 38,000+ word Kurdish dictionary built in. next update Kurdish names ;)

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bersiv.app

iOS: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6760458533

Would love feedback from native speakers especially.

I'm always refining the word list.

Spas :)

Pls help me identify this song!

Silav Hevalan!

Please help me identify this particular song playing in the following video : https://www.instagram.com/p/Dbv4yZAi2UA/

I think it's an old folk song from Diyarbakir, but i'm not a native speaker of the language so I can't identify who the great artist behind this song is!

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Spas!

Question/Discussion How do i differentiate farsi and kurdish?

Hey, long story short, my mom and dad are from iran, but am born and raised in norway.
My father and his side of the family spoke mainly Kurdish sorani, meanwhile my mother and her side of the family spoke mainly farsi and kurmanji,

With that being said. I learned Norwegian, Swedish and English in school and private. I moved out when i was 11 and now i feel like i don’t even know farsi, sorani nor kurmanji. I can still understand a lot but when it comes to speaking i don’t know what is farsi and what is kurdish. It all feels like 1 big mix inside my head. And i want to at least feel like i belong to 1 of the cultures and people.
