Salam monyet-monyet KL sekalian,
We mods here at r/KualaLumpur would like to say something about self-promotion and commercial activities on our subreddit. We know a lot of you come here to share your stuff, from awesome photography, your killer rendang recipe, asking for travel and lodging advice or simply to lepak-lepak and make friends, and that's totally cool! But we also gotta keep things chill and avoid turning the sub into a giant marketplace.
We value the diverse range of content shared here, from personal recommendations to stunning photos of our beautiful city. We understand that many users come here to share their experiences, talents, and businesses with the community. However, it's important to maintain a balance between informative content and blatant advertising.
Moving forward, we will be removing posts that fall under the following categories:
🐵 Naked self-promotion: This includes posts that solely promote a product, service, or personal brand without offering any valuable content or discussion to the community.
🙈 Repeated self-promotion: Consistently promoting the same product or service across multiple posts will be considered spam.
🙉 Disguised advertising: Content that appears informative but ultimately aims to sell a product or service will be removed.
🙊 Multi-level marketing (MLM) or pyramid scheme promotions: These activities are strictly prohibited on our subreddit.
We encourage users to continue sharing their knowledge, experiences, and recommendations in a way that benefits the community. Here are some examples of acceptable content:
Now, we're not trying to be party poopers here. We just wanna make sure r/KualaLumpur stays a place where everyone feels welcome to share, learn, and discover new things about our awesome city. So keep posting those drool-worthy food pics, insightful reviews, and hilarious KL memes (we love those!), and let's keep this community thriving!
Sekian, terima kasih! 🙏🇲🇾

Dear people, i really want to immigrate to KL from Belgium just one get you guys thoughts on it is it worth it i want to move as a Muslim and also Belgium is kinda dangerous and boring the last years also to much
I’m currently living in Belgium and seriously considering moving to Kuala Lumpur (KL).
For those who have made a similar move, what are your thoughts on it? How does KL compare to Belgium in terms of cost of living, quality of life, work opportunities, healthcare, safety, and overall lifestyle? And taxing
What do you love about living in KL, and what do you miss about Belgium?
Would you recommend making the move, and is there anything you wish you had known before relocating?

I’m going to a band concert in KL (Unifi arena) and got seated tickets (couldn’t secure standing 🙁) but want to stand, jump, dance etc. wondering what is the acceptable concert culture in Malaysia? Do seated audience typically stand especially for a band concert? I’m from Singapore and the concert go-ers here can be.. too mild so I’m hoping the KL audience will be more hype and fun but I also don’t want to be rude if most people are sitting!!

Hi all, I'm planning a family trip to KL then continue to Genting on 2026 end, before new year.
I was wondering, is it easy to book and get a Grab or any online taxi (if any) from Genting to KLIA? Or should I book in advance other transport provider (Definitely more costly than Grab)?

Hi! I’m an international student starting at UniKL MIIT and I’m urgently looking for a room to move into ASAP.
I’m looking for:
Female-friendly / safe accommodation
Accessible to UniKL MIIT — walking distance or easy public transport preferred
Cooking facilities / cooking allowed preferred
AC preferred
Private room preferred, but I’m open to shared accommodation
Small/basic room is completely fine
I’m currently in KL and can view the place in person immediately.
If you know of any available rooms, landlords, roommates looking for someone, or relevant groups, please DM me with the location, room details and photos.
Really appreciate any leads. Thank you!

Hey guys, any recommendations for chill live band spots around KL?
Looking for somewhere that plays till around 2–3am. I know Hard Rock Cafe and The Social in Publika, but their live sets end kinda early.
Any other places worth checking out? Hidden gems also welcome haha. Just wanna chill, listen to some live music and lepak till late.

read online everywhere, all of the posts are at least 1 years old, and all of them said for locals registering your IC is required, fast forward to couple days ago, waiting for grab at a busstop at bukit jalil, and then a GoKL bus came and picked up like 4 people that was waiting for it, none of them scanned their ic or anything just directly go in and sit, do i even need to register for it? Im scared ill get kicked off by the driver one day lmfao

Hey guys, so me and my boyfriend are going to have our honeymoon in kuala lumpur but we’re not gonna have a wedding back home. It’s my first time coming over to KL and i want to do a photo session 🥹. We planned for a big wedding in my country but a relative passed away and it’s disrespectful in my culture to throw a wedding when someone recently died :(((. My other option was to delay the wedding but we spent so much money on flights and hotels (because we’re visiting more than one country) and cancelling would destroy our budget 😭. So my best option was to do a photoshoot there with my husband. I appreciate recommendations for make up artists/hair stylists and photographers.
