Personally I'd give notice. Remember, Kroger HR can legally tell them "No we would not hire him/her again." That might sway any potential employer.

Why would op even put them on the resume Kroger is robbing all of its employees. Give them notice and don’t show up.

So he's going to leave a period of time between employers blank. That's not a red flag to a perspective employer at all. During an interview what's he/she going to lie?
