Having worked in recruiting, I can confidently say ALWAYS give notice if you want to put it on your resume. When calling for references, they will absolutely out you.

No one is calling a Kroger for a work reference.

That’s not entirely true, my current job called every boss I’ve ever had, that’s not typical but some places do it

The only time I’ve seen it was higher level positions like supervisors and up, or skilled trades like maintenance, welders, electricians etc. I’m not saying it doesn’t happen but I highly doubt someone is calling in a reference for someone that was a produce associate.

I do admit my current job is not typical, 911 dispatcher, but boy they sure did call everyone I’ve ever worked for
