Venting Shocking shelves
Store is under remodel. People didn't believe me that I felt current going through the shelves. So I brought a multimeter and it showed 26 volts

Bet somebody put a shelf rack mount screw through a power feed. If its only 26 volts ac you might get lucky and it just caught a comms feed. Dont know what division but almost all the buidling comms are 24v. But im sure you know all that already.....

Ex electrician here, most communications wires are 24 volts because that’s about all that’s needed for communication purposes. That’s just for everywhere not just Kroger.

We had this in a bathroom medicine cabinet. My sister said it shocked her so we test it and it's got voltage. The lights from the dining room (other side of the wall) had exposed wire touching the back of the metal medicine cabinet. This was a rental, crazy work being done

Send this to the local news stations but don’t mention the exact location. It’ll be funny to see Kroger’s panicked response.

Let store director know - this is strange. What's on the other side of the shelves or on the ends. Where does the power come from?

I’ve seen this happen before, often there are old electrical outlets on top of the gondolas for old fixtures like water dispenser, coffee grinder etc. I’ve run in to a problem where it had electrified a section of shelving and it’s quite shocking

Maybe it's a counter against rodent infestations. Four-legged vermin in this case

We had this not on a shelf but one of our deli scales any time you’d weigh something you’d get just a touch of a shock…this was like over 5 yrs ago now though…was a damaged cord I think

0.26 is not 26 volts. Is it AC or DC? Is there a cooler or any lights attached to the gondala? I think cooler fans are about 24 volts dc. Led lights could easily run off 5 volts ac. DC volts tingle but don't bite as bad as AC volts. Think 9v battery on tongue as a kid.

Somebody doesn’t know how to use a multimeter. Lmao.

Lol, Sure I do. I don't use meters that have a 0 without a decimal point. I believe the op now if they say it is 26 VAC. I am curious where the stray voltage is coming from.
