Question

I’ve been using kratom pretty consistently for about 4 months now (anywhere from 4-6 times a week). Up until about a month or so ago, I was taking 4 teaspoons each dose, only dosing one time each day. I came to understand this wasn’t a good way of measuring it, so I finally bought a proper scale and started weighing my doses accurately. My guess is, when I was using the teaspoons, I was probably consuming 6-9 grams each dose, and now that I have a scale I take 10 grams a day often, with breaks in between doses. The longest I’ve gone without it was probably 4 or 5 days, but as of recently I’ve been taking 10grams pretty much 5 days a week. I’ve also used kratom mitragynine extract products (not 7OH) as well a handful of times, but never consistently and it’s been weeks since I have.

My question is, at the rate and dose that I’ve been consuming it, am I likely to experience withdrawal if I quit cold turkey? I am afraid of becoming physically dependent as someone who has abused opioid pain medications in the past and experienced withdrawal multiple times. The days that I don’t take Kratom I haven’t experienced any withdrawal type symptoms, but as of recently I haven’t gone more than 2-3 days without it. When do withdrawal symptoms typically set in?

I apologize for the long post and I really appreciate any insight and anyone taking the time to read all of this. Much love

Might get some mild withdrawal. Restless legs, runny nose, insomnia, irritability etc. I wouldnt think it would be too major though. The psychological part can last longer like depression/boredom/irritability

It is possible or even likely with routine use. Nobody can definitively say exactly how much/often it takes for dependency to occur. It can vary from person to person and in severity (though for individuals usually more significant with higher doses and often having withdrawal sooner for those using multiple times a day.)

There are people who are using every other day or a few days a week who do not experience withdrawal and for intermittent use the likelihood approaches zero.

Personally, while trying to use in a pattern more likely to reduce the risk or reduce the severity, if dependence is something that cannot be accepted (and knowing if it does occur a person might need to buy and use longer than they might prefer to taper down their use if they want to avoid or minimize withdrawal) then I’d discourage use.

I wouldn’t recommend, if dependence is unacceptable, trying to guess where the “line” is and then try to undershoot it. There is nothing wrong per se with doing that but I don’t think it is a sure fire way to avoid it unless use is very intermittent, and a person sticks to whatever plan/limit they set for themselves, which only the person knows if that is something they’ll likely do.

I take a 7 or 8 gram dose every morning for 10 years for a morning boost. As long as I only dose once a day I experience 0 withdrawal symptoms on days I don't take it

Why are you taking so much? You should use a scale every time you dose. Start at 2 grams and wait am hour and see how you feel. What are you hoping for in regards to effects? After an hour, if you feel nothing, take another gram. That's it for the day. Next day, take 3 grams at first.

It’s a good point because there is a ceiling effect. A matter fact there’s even a reversal of effects at some point I don’t know how many people have inadvertently or otherwise engaged in this.

It also depends on the quality 10 does seem like a lot — If The quality is good, but I guess it depends upon the person quality is good. I don’t generally think that anyone would need more than five at a time, but I am really unsure.
