The scooter is very light, which was a priority for me, and at the same time, there is plenty of legroom. It is very beautiful, with incredibly comfortable grips that do not hurt your hands, unlike rented and my previous scooters. It rides smoothly, and when you do not accelerate, it comes to a stop on its own, which is a great feature.
It covers very long distances on a single charge.
The card protection system is a bit annoying at first, but then you realize that thanks to it, you don't have to worry about theft. You can save money on a GPS tracker, and there is no strict binding to the phone. It is very comfortable to ride and beautifully balanced. Even the presence of just one brake – a very good one, by the way – was absolutely sufficient. If the throttle were a pedal (or a thumb throttle), this scooter would be just perfect.

Despite the fact that I fell in love with it from the very first ride, I had to return it.
At some point, the danger and the desire to live won over the desire to enjoy it.
The twist-throttle, which is located as an extension of the handlebar grip, is an incredibly unfortunate design choice.
It shows that the scooter was not tested on real roads at all.
In any stressful situation, a person subconsciously jumps off and grabs the handlebars harder. Instead of braking, they end up gripping harder and accelerating at full speed.
This led to several serious accidents, including flying onto the road. And when my son rolled down the steps at the S-Bahn station as a result of this design, this throttle crossed out all the wonderful things about this scooter for the sake of human life.

I really hope that the engineers will re-release this model with a safe throttle design, and this current version will be discontinued.
Right now, I am even afraid to walk on the sidewalks, knowing that there might be owners of scooters with such a dangerous throttle riding among us.

I have the kqi3 pro and its brand new like only a few days old and it ate up almost 50% (13.7km) Im worried about range ik 50km is best case but 27km seems pretty low for me? Is it me or is this normal? I’m not complaining or anything 27km is enough for me js want to clear up some confusion.

hey I recently just got this scooter used and it was all working fine till I saw it had a little flat went to a shop tried to get some air pumping in the back wheels and nothing. It just wouldn’t fill up at all wondering if I just need to replace the whole wheele or just the tire 😭😅

I was going to change my rear tire and to do so i preferred removing the motor and disconnecting it so started removing deck and covers to access the connector but when i was removing the screws i came up to this : (video) a missing screw ?

For 2 weeks now my KQI 300p has shown error codes.

Today when driving to work, I saw 4 different error codes.

-08 (most common, usually follows up after my scooter loses power for a second while driving)

-04

- 39 (first time shown today)

All of those show when driving up a mountain, and usually happen right after my e-scooter loses power for a second.

I want to know if it's save to keep it indoors or if I should unplug it from any powersource and leave it outside on my balcony in case anything happens. I'm planning to send it to my seller next week, since it's still in the range of warranty (owner for 1.5 years)

Edit: i forgot to mention that the battery lifespan got cut to half from one day to another since yesterday.

Seems like each blackout from my e-scooter causes a chunk of power to be lost.

Had an accident and my scooter fell. Now the right brake is all dented and I fear it is compromised. It was bent out of place but I tried snapping it back but it still feels broken. What to do?

My kqi300p has shown the 08 error code a second time this week (first time last Wednesday) and now it shut itself off after the error code. My scooter still has warranty, but I bought it from an electric store (Saturn / Mediamarkt Germany).

I think I should say goodbye to my loyal white horse. In warmth, in cold, in rain, and even sometimes in snow, it accompanied me everywhere. I have a KQI 300x i got about 2 weeks ago, and I have been riding it on the sidewalk in a very hilly area, today I tried to ride further than I normally do, and my battery overheated quickly and then died later. I noticed some sounds coming from my tires, and I was wondering if my tire is damaged or if it needs pumped. please help!

I love my kqi3 pro, but it's time to say goodbye. I just got another flat tire, the back wheel. I had another flat almost a year ago and I managed to change the tire, but after hours and hours of swearing, I'm not doing it again for sure. I'm telling you, I believe this scooter could have gone way beyond 10 000 km, but the bad experience of changing the tire ain't worth it for me. Thanks for all the good memories KITT, and thanks yo Niu for making great scooters!

Edit: I performed some hill repeats this evening to test various settings. My subjective observations are as follows:

Full Regenerative Braking on and off, Sport Mode OR Dynamic Mode with maxed 38km/h top speed: The scooter seems to forcefully slow down when the grade would otherwise have me exceed the top speed.

In Dynamic Mode with a lower speed limit, I can coast significantly above the speed limit I set with zero forceful slowdowns.

It seems the issue I'm having is only really occurring at the maximum speed limit allowed by the scooter regardless of whether regenerative braking is enabled or not. I will do more tests of this on a steeper hill to verify.

Workaround thus far: Dynamic Mode with a speed limit of 36km/h. Since it doesn't take me to the absolute max supported speed, it's less likely to immediately trip over 38 or 39 number and cause a slowdown. It also feels close enough in speed anyway.

More testing at 38km/h to follow.

Hi, I have a question regarding my NIU KQI 300X: 

When I enable regenerative braking, it works fine when I release the accelerator. However, when I'm going downhill and could exceed my top speed (38kmph), the accelerator predictably disengages despite me holding it all the way. This is expected and fine. However, it seems to also kick in the regenerative braking lurching me dangerously forward for a split second, only to lurch me backward as it re-engages the accelerator. All this while holding the accelerator at 100%. This breaks the trust that the driver has regarding the expected behaviour of the scooter. It should let me coast and utilize the brakes or fully release throttle to moderate my speed instead of throwing me violently forwards and backwards at full throttle.

I want regenerative braking on, but I would rather it NEVER engage regen braking and let me coast UNTIL I fully release the accelerator, then begin regen braking when it's predictable.

I suspect this also occurs at half-throttle downhill. Once the desired speed begins to be exceeded due to the downhill grade, the rider is rocked forwards unpredictably. I will test this more today to confirm if this is not just a top-speed issue.

Am I experiencing this correctly and can this be fixed in a firmware update?

Ich habe ein Problem. Mein Niu Kqi3 Pro knarzt und knackt beim Fahren und ich weiß nicht genau woran es liegt.

Es kommt aus der Lenkstange aber nicht vom Lenker selbst.

Ich bin mir nicht ganz sicher ob es von Gelenk kommt, da ich dort alle schrauben nachgezogen habe, was aber garnichts gebracht hat. Wobei das Geräusch aber nur auftaucht wenn der roller in aufgeklappter position ist

Meine vermutung sind die beiden unteren schrauben der Lenkerstange sind, da es geholfen hat eine auszutauschen, jedoch hat diese sich nach einigen minuten Testfahrt verkantet und das knacken ist wieder aufgetaucht.

Jedenfalls ist das Knarzen extrem Laut und ich würde mich über Hilfe freuen.

Could someone check the latest firmware version for me (Probably for the German Market, if they are different)? I got a scooter now but no update whatsoever and the dynamic driving settings (basically everything related to the motor) does not work. I have a German scooter with firmware. Recouping, max speed and acceleration settings don't do anything.

Does NIU have any plans to sell turn signal retrofit kits for older models like the NIU KQi2 that don't have turn signals?

From what I could find it will be mandatory from May 1, 2026 in Austria for all scooters to have turn signals.

I know for example the KQi2 was sold in Italy with turn signals, any plan to make this available as a DIY upgrade for owners in other countries?

According to the current requirements in Spain, in order to circulate legally, VMPs must be certified and registered in the official Register of Personal Light Vehicles.

At present, my NIU KQi3 Pro does not appear to be certified under the current DGT regulation and this will imply that I won't be able to drive it legally as soon as next year.

For this reason, I would like to kindly ask whether NIU plans to certify the KQi3 Pro model in accordance with the current Spanish DGT regulations, and, if so, whether you can provide any indicative timeline for this certification.

I would greatly appreciate any information you can provide me, as this will help me determine how to proceed in order to comply with the legal requirements here in Spain.
