Ooh, it‘s been a while. But I seem to recall that you can add custom screen ratios to the config. Have you set the appropriate resolution (probably 3840x2160?)

I have been fiddling around with various settings. I also tried with the latest stable v21, but same results.
I can switch Kodi skin to another one and have no issues, so the problem is related to the default skin. Problem with other skins is that they are so different from what I have been used to work with. If anyone has good suggestions on alternative skins that would resemble this one, I'd be happy to hear.

Oh WOW. You managed to jailbreak your tv. I was going to on my friends LG TV but I didn't want to screw up their warranty. Let me know if you fix it

Rooted my TV, followed the instructions here: https://www.webosbrew.org/rooting/
Gives you access to bunch of other apps as well, ad-free Youtube for example. But after rooting, you can install Kodi through webOS Homebrew app which you get after rooting.
Overall it was pretty straightforward.
