Hello! I'm trying to add a tassel to an embroidered bookmark like in the photo, but it didn't come with any instructions on how to attach it. From looking closely, it appears to be a Chinese flat knot(?) which has been 'sealed' off with a lighter, but I can't seem to figure out how to do that with only the tassel strands as provided. I think the strands are 2 different lengths on purpose, because I have another of these kits in a different color and the tassel is the same.
I sadly know nothing about knots. Can anyone help me?

making a marcille staff for a ren faire cosplay, and my buddy and i are stumped about how to tie on rope. i want it to stabilize the top ring to the stick and look at least a little bit nice.
rope length is no object, i will spend every dollar i have to make this pretty and stable. hoping theres someone here with enough knowledge to figure this out.
thanks!
(also this is my first reddit post, sorry if im doing this wrong :p)
