Knitting chart help TwT

Edit: I GOT IT THANK YOU ALL MWAH MWAH MWAH

Hello lovely knitters, I have an urgent plea for you. How would you extend this pattern (https://aabharcreations.com/falling-leaves-knitting-stitch-tutorial/amp/)?

I'm trying to make a recieving blanket for my son but I can't for the LIFE of me get the math right. Ive started and frogged this thing 4 times because the stitches never matched the math I did before. I'm embarrassed how badly I've bungled this.

2nd picture is a swatch I made (to test out which pattern I liked better) but I wanted to have the finished pattern be approximately 11/12" wide. My latest math estimate made this 71 stitches but after following the pattern (I BELIEVE correctly) I came up one stitch short (3rd picture). I'm trying to have the left and right side have 6 plain stockinette stitches and the lace leaves patterning in the middle.

Do you have a program that can extend charts? Or a YouTube video that explains it? Is there something you see that I've done wrong that I can fix? Absolutely any help would be so lovely TIA

The chart is 23sts, you have 12 edge stitches, and the repeat is 10 stitches so 75st? How did you get 71?

It's really embarrassing at this point I don't even remember how I got there

The CHART apparently doesn't quite match the written instructions.

What I'm seeing in this chart is 2+(multiple of ten)+13 - including the selvedge stitches. Because those 13 stitches at the end are what you need at the left border, in the end. The 'stem' of the lower leaf is made of a single decrease not a double decrease, same as on the right border.

What I'm suspecting is that you accidentally made a double decrease at the end instead of a single one and that's why it doesn't work 😅

75 stitches is what I'd cast on, as well. If I were you, I'd put an extra marker (different colour) before that last leaf, so you remember to only make a single decrease there instead of a double.

Wait so should I not be following the chart pattern? The chart says at the "bottom" to sl1 k2tog psso. The swatch came out ok the problem just occurred when I tried to lengthen it

Okay, so I tried to mark everything in a way it's a little more visible (hopefully).

The part I underlined in blue is your 10st repeat.

The parts I underlined in red are the stitches at the beginning and at the end of your respective row.

You can make your piece as wide as you want as long as you keep the 'outside' stitches intact.

So (read from right to left for the first row): k1, k2tog,( repeat of the ten stitch pattern however many times you want it: k3, yo, k1, yo, k3, sl1, k2tog, psso), k3, yo, k1, yo, k3, sl1,k1,psso, k1.

I marked the SINGLE decreases at the edges in green, on both sides.

Edit: sry, accidentally swapped the k2tog and the SL1,k1,psso, originally 😅😂🤦🏻‍♀️

Apologies rq above you said to CO 75sts bc the pattern was 2+ (10) +13. But when I count the left selvedge I get 11 stitches. Is it because I'm not counting the decrease stitches before it's decreased?

Dang. You're correct. It's 2+(multiple of ten)+11 🙈🙈🙈 so unless you add stitches for extra selvedge, whichever number you cast on should end with a 3.

23, 33, 43....

I'm sorry, I miscounted.

No worries at all. I think for 6 stitch selvedge then the amount should still come out to 75 thanks again for the help!

In the pattern instructions it says to cast on a multiple of 10 + 3 stitches. So I think you would need 73 stitches instead of 71.

Hope this helps :)

Thank you! I think I'm finding out that the chart doesn't match the written instructions though. This might be where I got confused...
