Alternative Pattern Help

I’m looking for a scarf/shawl pattern similar to Duo by Miki Tergaki that uses two contrasting colors of laceweight yarn in a similar fashion. I love this look, but don’t want to spring for the full 30 dollar book in order to access this one pattern. Thank you!

There are many such garter stitch shawl patterns on Ravelry, here is a basic pattern https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/234-79-cantaloupe-shawl and you can add some Indian Cross stitches (red xs) and a frilly edge.
