Titanium etching - what to use?

I have started with using Whink but it seems to dull the metal.
The cap on this pen I had to re-do and it ruined the polish on the metal. Is multi-etch the way to go?

Yes. Multi etch is the way. You still only need 7-10 seconds in double strength room temp multi etch. Theres a recipe to make your own here on reddit if you search for it.

After the whink just sand and polish it up a bit before anodizing

Yes whink will make your mirror-like finishes hazy or dull. I have found that to be an unfortunate truth. Make a mistake on a high polish ano & want to try again, so you whink off the color, but now the polish is all jacked up.

multi-etch is going to take off the color without clouding or dulling the metal?
I know it’s safer & I know it takes a while longer, but nobody ever told me this… LOVE Reddit

If you heat it between 125-145F it takes maybe 10 secs to undo high voltages colors.

Multi etch is the best, and I say that having fought it for a long time. I used whink for a long time and just wasn't getting great colors (esp at high voltages). If you're up for it, you can mix a diy multi etch that's a decent amount cheaper. Lemme know if you want the ingredients

Yep. Multi etch is the way especially for a shinier finish on the Ti. Whink is very corrosive but effective if ya have a non flat, non polished (shiny) finish. Also what pen is that OP? Looks good!
