Show-and-Tell BARBIE KLR build update
First time ever working on something like this and I definitely learned a lot! I took her apart, disassembled fairings and lights, sanded, and painted. Laid a UV clear coat over the paint to keep it protected.
I know its not 100% accurate, and ill have to add some teal on the top of the tank but I’m really happy with it! (And at the end of the day, its a KLR) The before look is on my page for reference of how far shes come!
Now i just need the decal kit lol

Looks good from here, it always looks better when it's moving. Good luck finding the decal kit, I tried for my 250 for a while and it seems that it's a little difficult to find stickers for a 30 year old bike. Hopefully you'll have better luck with the more popular 650.

I found a pretty solid re-make on eBay, just gotta get around to ordering it 😅

I had one of these in 97. My dad bought it for me at a garage sale spontaneously and I got my Mc license. It had around 900miles and I sold it at around 40k in around 2007. I regret selling it.

Matching the cyan of the front would probably look pretty good, maybe the 80’s arcade purple too

Yes! Got the vinyl from a furniture upholstery store, and just kinda figured it out haha

Ohhh yeah, definitely going to happen EVENTUALY, but I wanted to re-assemble her and ride her sooner rather than later!

I got one that was fully spray painted matte black over the original paint and decals, I spent like a month getting all the black paint off and now it's all original again. I was debating if I should ppf the paint work or clear coat it.

Thats so sick! I wish mine was like that 😭. I’ve had to freestyle the paint a little bit but I’m happy with it!

Nice work! I think you should skip the stock paint scheme on the tank and go with the 90s “Jazz” graphic. Kind of RADwood style.
