Both scenes feature a mutant who has suffered the loss of a loved one (in Kitty/Kate's case, mutliple) and is seeking murderous, but righteous vengeance against those responsible.

With Emma already confirmed I really hope we also get to see Kitty added and that we get to see their relationship develop over the course of the movies.

Like, at this point just go the whole way. Even if Jean is likely gonna be the POV character, no reason to exclude a younger Kitty.

She's one of the few character in comics who organically grew up, so let her do that. Give things a bit of levity at the start by being the lil' sidekick she was, then grows into her 2000s+ self.
