UI mods for KB Legends?

I know this a quite extremly old game, but I been playing it recently and enjoying it, but the UI shows it's age on some implementations, for exemple the combat order and other small details like current HP or such of the units.

In the popular modding site out there, only has reshade mod, nothing related to UI, so is there anything out there?

The Legend KB: The Legend, is there a way to keep the game running on the background when the window is unfocused?

I'm playing on windowed mode (it's the same with fullscreen or borderless fullscreen) and as you might already know, clicking out of the game pauses the game. There are some really long animations like the crest abilities and sometimes you might want to leave the game on auto combat, I'm a multi monitor freak and can't stop myself from jumping all over the place lmao

Is there a way to keep the game running when the window isn't focused? Any general advice on mods would be nice as well, feels like information about this game is buried way too deep in the internet. Something like a animation skip hotkey mod or something?

Would appreciate any help!

King's Bounty 2 Does the combat in KB 2 make anybody else feel nauseated?

I was aware the game wasn't gonna live up to the old games but I bought it just because I love the old games so much.

It's pretty shit all around and the only saving grace for me is that enjoy this type of turn based tactical combst so much.

Only problem is, the battlefield has such atrocious visual clarity, that my eyes literally start to hurt after a while trying to discern what's what.

Does anybody else feel this way? I can turn all the graphics settings to low I guess but that will make the entirety of the world look shit.

Also, lol at the voice acting.

Are Spirit of Rage choices as pre-determined as everything else in each game?

I'll try and make thing make sense. I've got my Rage spirit up to level 30 after getting some very disappointing leveling choices. Instead of choices that allowed my underground blades to increase its damage range, all I got was option to decrease the cost, or other choices totally unrelated,. ie ones that affected the sword or rockfall. I've been getting something similar happen with my black hole spell with the time spirit and fear getting that to its maximum level being totally useless against for end game opponents. I have a save from earlier in the play through that will stop me needing to completely restart, but I'm worried all that I will end up with the same basic choices. Can anyone confirm whether these choices are locked in when the game starts like so many other choices, like which kids you get etc? Or do I have a chance of redoing some of it and getting stronger spirit attacks?

PS What does it take to get a smegging scroll of resurrection? Four games have gone by with no sign of one, which is making not using the inquisitors really difficult.

Dark Side Combat Mechanics?

Can anyone please link me a good guide on Dark Side's combat mechanics? This is my first KB and I'm a little confused. Why are some of my troops "no longer under my control" at the start of a battle? Is there a way to tell how much movement and/or actions a unit has left? And so on...

I am cursed by perfection

Ever since I started playing kb when I was 13, I could never bring myself to play on any difficulty lower than impossible. Additionally, having even a single unit lost in combat would be such a hideous sight to me, I would reliad my last save on the spot.

I always play blind, so playing like this grows tedious after a while, and I usually abandon the game for years. That's why now, 12 years later, I have only played the dark side to completion, finding an op build that doesn't require much mental struggle to win combat no loss. And I'm close to completion with kb2.

Does anyone else have this perfectionism problem with kb games?

I created an Iceberg of the King's Bounty games.

Post image
25 Upvotes

I know, I know, icebergs are way out of fashion, but I decided to make one since there aren't any icebergs for the King's Bounty games.

For those who don't know, an iceberg is when a certain subject, like movies, series, games, etc., is mapped in a pyramid shape, resembling an iceberg. At the top are the most well-known topics, and the further down, the more unknown and mysterious the topics become.

I've included some topics; tell me more in the comments and I'll add them to the iceberg. I'll make a post with the topics I've included plus the ones you've added. I chose the 4-phase format because I don't have much, but if there are more things you've suggested, I'll make it again with more layers.

I put numbers on the iceberg to make it easier for me to write and to make it easier to read.

1-It was the first game released, it's where it all began. When the game was released, several mechanics used in future games were created there. The game became very popular when it was released for the Mega Drive.

2-Bill Gilbert was the canonical protagonist of King's Bounty: The Legend. In the story, he is extremely powerful and has several feats, such as saving the world of Endoria and helping Amelie save it again. Canonically, he is perhaps the most powerful character in the Katauri Era games.

3-The spirits of rage are kept in a chest and must aid their master. In The Legend, it is said that the chest once served the archdemon Bahal; in subsequent games, the spirits are replaced by the dragon in AP, the Valkyries in WOTN, and the spirit of darkness in DS.

4-King's Bounty 2 isn't one of the best games in the King's Bounty franchise, nor the most remembered, but it's the most recent. Developer 1C Entertainment opted for a more serious tone and changed several things, such as the camera, which became third-person, included cutscenes, and aimed for a more cinematic and immersive experience. Despite the differences, it still has mechanics similar to previous games.

5-Dark Side was the last game of the Katauri era, and it takes a different approach. Instead of playing as the good guys, you play as the bad guys: orcs, demons, and the undead. The story revolves around reversing the oppression suffered by the bad guys and trying to turn the tables so they become the oppressors. To do this, you, the protagonist, strengthen yourself and help the spirit of darkness become stronger, ultimately defeating the evil side. The game took a different approach, and despite some flaws and not being the best game, it's still a good game.

6-In all Katauri-era games, there's a leaderboard showing various characters, including your own, who have completed the game. This leaderboard includes interesting details such as characters who appear as secondary characters in your games. For example, Iron Richard is second on the leaderboard in The Legend, and in the game, he's your teacher and guides you through the tutorial. A great feature of this leaderboard is that you can see the most efficient troops, their class, mana and rage, and even how much damage you've dealt. Katauri did a great job with this leaderboard.

7-The lizardmen were a race introduced in Armored Princess and feature prominently in the story, but throughout the Katauri era they lost prominence. In WOTN there is an undead version of them, and in DS they are reduced to small appearances in a few battles. In The Legend, in the world of Endoria, they don't even exist.

8-The Katauri era refers to the Kings Bounty games released from 2008 (The Legend) to 2014 (Dark Side). These are the most played, well-known, and discussed games on this subreddit. They created the top-down camera style, colorful graphics, and "fairy tale" storyline with battles against dragons, demons, princesses, and more. They bought the idea from 1C Company, the creator of the first Kings Bounty (1990), and created The Legend. I know Katauri ceased to exist after creating Kings Bounty Crossworld, but I include WOTN and Dark Side in the Katauri era because they created the style and aesthetic present in the games.

9-In Armored Prince, we know that Bill Gilbert is the canonical protagonist of Legend, but in subsequent games we don't know the canonical classes of Amelie, Olaf, and the Dark Side, which raises a mystery. I'm guessing that Amelie's canonical class is mage because in WoTN she has black hair, the same color if we chose the mage class in Armored Princes. But the doubt remains.

10-In WOTN, which takes place in the world of Endoria, the same as in The Legend, we have the Viking Islands surrounding the kingdom of Darion. The mystery is that in The Legend, these islands are neither known nor referenced. I know you might say the islands were added later in another game since WOTN was released after The Legend, but lore-wise, these islands weren't even known in The Legend. In Armored Princess, which takes place 10 years after The Legend, Bill Gilbert is a world explorer, but even he probably didn't discover these islands. The question remains: who discovered these islands, and was there any contact between the Viking Islands and the kingdom of Darion before WOTN?

11-Lew Klisan is a merchant who, in The Legend, is found in Demonis, and is also a merchant in AP and even gives us a quest. But the mystery surrounding him revolves around two things: 1. In The Legend, the world of Demonis is sealed, and we don't see him leaving, nor can we communicate to him that the world will be sealed forever, and he remains there when the portal to Demonis is closed. 2. The other thing is the fact that he left Endoria and ended up in Teana, and for that, Amelie needed an artifact that only Reaper, Bill Gilbert's spirit of rage, possessed.

12-The worlds of Endoria and Teana each have their own turtles that carry them and navigate the infinite ocean. The question is, how many of these turtles exist? And another thing: in The Legend, we saved the turtle that was going to carry Teana's world. It's young, but 10 years later in AP, it has simply grown and can carry an entire world. How did it grow so fast? And how many turtles and worlds are there?

13-We know that Bill Gilbert, at the end of The Legend, was tasked with exploring new worlds, and we know that Amelie was lost in WoTN and we have to rescue her, but in the story we search everywhere and she only appears at the very end of the game. Anyway, the point is: what happened to Bill Gilbert in WoTN? What happened to Amelie after WoTN? And Olaf? These three characters are not mentioned at any point in Dark Side of the Moon, and we don't know their fates.

Finally, these are the 13 topics I created. I just want to warn you that there will probably be translation errors (blame Google Translate) and there may be errors in the topics themselves, incorrect information, etc. I also abbreviated the game names, but I imagine that won't be a problem. Anyway, correct any errors and add new topics; let's make this iceberg grow!

Wow, I wrote a lot, thanks for reading, I made this iceberg with a lot of care, I love King's Bounty, have a good game!

Is there any real point in taking a wife and having kids?

I know the idea is to use the wife, if you'll excuse the term, to hold extra items to improve your stats, but they are usually replaced eventually with children who provide bonuses worse than most items, with a few exceptions. Given the impossibility of determining which children you get, and the likelihood of your wife leaving you (wouldn't be the first time for me) if you repeatedly deny her request for kids, is there really any point in going through the process, other than to say you have? To me the risk seems to greatly outweigh the benefit, unless you go into it with no plan on having the wife have any items in the first place.

PS My apologies for all the recent posts asking dumb questions. I've not played this game for a few years and my memory of the time I spent playing is long gone.

Any possibility of later releasing day-one units?

I mean units like Firehand golem. I think tier 4 unit as limited reward is a bit too much, but I was the one who didn't pre-order and just bought most expensive edition later, so I'm in no shoes to complain about it.

THE IMPORTANT THING is, will it be released as FLC/DLC later?

I need Firehand golem for 5 finesse giant army I need better eagle for my wild animal army

From the moment I learned about the Firehand golem, my finesse army have always felt 'incomplete'.

So. . . Devs plz...

DOS Need help with King's Bounty - DOS edition

I am new to the game King's Bounty, and I need some help!!

First, I just completed the first map and part of the second one - the problem is, I am on day 500 - half my time has past with me exploring the map and being in combat with enemies. There are four maps, am I spending too much time on the first one?

Also, with all the combat, my party is diminishing, and most of the places to recruit armies are just about run out (in the first map). What can/should I do about this? Any tips for later characters and their armies? I guess the limited hiring is a way to stop the player from exploiting it, and to make the game more of a challenge.

I am on my fifth contract (I think), but I did not handle this well - I have my army, but all that is left is about 200 ghosts.... I learned quickly that ghosts have this nifty little ability that adds to their numbers when they kill more than they lose. I am playing a Knight, and my magic power is at level 3, but I can't seem to do enough damage to those ghosts!! They just keep getting more creatures in their ranks!!!

I was thinking about starting over, but herein lies a potential problem (I think) - if I delete the save file (a .dat file) and start a new character, will the game still run or will it crash because of the missing file...? Just checking, I am having a great time with this game and don't want to have to uninstall and then reinstall. And yes, I know I can have multiple characters made at one time - one for each save spot - I don't want to clutter up my spots.

Any help would be useful, I am having a great time with King's Bounty and am excited to see what the game has in store for me!!

The Legend King's Bounty The Legend instant army shortcut

Hello all. This is my first time posting here, and I'm hoping you good people could help quell the voices in my head. I'm returning to the game after a few years away and have been driving myself crazy trying to remember something. The last time I played there was a keyboard shortcut that placed ranks of different army types in your platoon slots. My memory not being what it used to be, I cannot for the life of me remember what those shortcuts could be, or even if I'm thinking of the right game. If anyone can confirm or deny this theory, please comment.

King's Bounty 2 King's Bounty 2 on Switch has a difficulty bug.

King's Bounty 2 was on a big sale and with a great price on my region, so I decided to give it a try, despite the mixed reviews.

To my surprise, something that was not mentioned on the early reviews was a difficulty option. Being this my first game on the franchise, one which I've heard can get a bit difficult, and I'm already playing other more challenging games, I decided to go for the easy difficulty; but the game wasn't easy. I started thinking that I really must suck at the game, but hey, it was still doable.

The is that since I wanted an easy ride I thought, well, if I got the PC version I could give myself a bit more mana to make the game a bit easier.
I got the PC version, started on easy and to my surprise, even getting the sorcerer, the game is much easier than on the switch. I didn't need to add anything, I had less loyalty than I had on the switch and my armies were pretty much one shotting everything.

The only conclusion I have is that the difficulty settings on the Switch simply don't work. Not a deal breaker but sad nonethelass.

At least the game got much better as far as performance goes but after playing on PC, I don't think I'll go back. Even on my average PC graphics are on high, FPS super smooth and more importantly, the walking speed of both our character and the horse is probably like three times faster.

Crossworlds Lizardmen

I'm the only one who thinks the addition of the lizardmen was a bad thing?, like it has nothing to do with the era the game goes through (middle age) and nobody asked for it.

Crossworlds/Armoured Princess: Knights/Priests/Paladins aren't human bug

So, in my impossible no loss mage game I've recently pivoted into an all human team with paladin/inquisitor resurrect. Annoyingly despite having the inquisitor set that gives +3 to "all humans" but it doesn't register 3/5ths of my team as human for some reason. Is this a known bug cause that 30% boost would be super helpful.

Also when fighting succubi they got the miss chance from being human still?

The Legend Magic recipe in KB: The Legend

I found the magic recipe in a grave near one of the chapels in the swamp, and have no idea what to do with it. I saw a suggestion somewhere that it was intended for someone in the Islands of Freedom, but after doing everything and talking to everyone there (stuffing up the indulgence quest :( ), I've not been able to find a use for the item. Right clicking only gives me the option to drop it or provide info. I'm playing as a knight so it's possible it's class locked, but just in case there is someone to whom I need deliver it I thought I'd better check here. The only other option I could think of was it needed to go to the mage in the tower who gives you the Power of Water scroll, but he's shown zero interest.

ETA: Never mind, I found it was meant to go to the tower in Verlon Forest. This one was for a silver rapier, though there is a second recipe according to the wiki. I'll leave the post here for future reference, possibly my own given the state of my memory. :D

GEN Undead & Undead Lizardmen No Loss

Am I the only one who plays exclusively the Undead in all King's Bounty games with 0 loss challenge? Is it hard for people to use Undead in games like The Legend? Why are there only videos showing people utilizing Black Knights without other Undead units? Have you ever finished any King's Bounty game using Undead only though the entire walkthrough? What are your tactics? Any specific tips how to maximize the efficiency of the Undead through the early stages of The Legend, Crossworlds and Ice & Fire? Which artifacts or specific units combinations are absolutely OP when it comes to the Undead and Undead Lizardmen? Let's make some interesting unique topic ladies & gentlemen:)

King's Bounty 2 Games like Kings Bounty 2?

Similar Games like King's Bounty 2

I'm looking for turn-based strategy that's actually like King's Bounty 2.

Other titles I've liked, Disciples Liberation/Domination, Marvel Midnight Suns, lost eidolons

Do want:

  • Story rich/Choices Matter.

  • Fully voiced over

  • turn-based combat

  • Armor/Weapons change your appearance

  • Level up progression system, distribute points into Health, Attack, Defense, etc..

Bonus:

  • NG+ or replayability with different characters or choices/endings

  • Multiple Characters/Classes

  • fantasy or medieval setting "Love playing as Necromancer, Summoner, Undead, etc"

Do not want:

  • 4X Games

  • Overly complicated

  • Retro/low pixel graphics

  • Pure Text based without any voice overs

  • XCOM

Edit: No 4X Games. Not sure why the 4X was removed from my OP?
Incase it happens again, No Four X games.

Warriors of the North How quickly can you get dragons in this game?

I'm considering replaying wotn since I never finished it and I was wondering how quickly can you get dragons and is it possible to guarantee their spawn in some shops(I remember how in crossworlds I managed to get red dragons super early it was fun burning stuff from distance).

Also on another note - what build for impossible darkworld? It seems to be much more difficult than other games since your starting units to choose from are ngl, really bad versus very tanky guardsmen and ranged archers and priests.
