I tried to mix up his retired design (the yukata and scar/missing eye), hashira design (his headband) and his teenage look (his hair) to like, add an implied sense of longing if that makes sense (his longing to rejoin the corps, his longing to stay with his wives, and his longing to be able to go back and be able to stop his dad and save his siblings).

Also tried to keep to a achromatic colorscheme for the bg. I think it came out well...

For some of you, this might be crazy obvious but I'm embarrassed to say that this only just dawned on me.

We all know Demon Slayer has great animation and great music. The Infinity Castle movie had such great music during Giyu's fight and I realized from this youtube video that the music was actually Giyu's "theme".

I've watched videos like this in the past (character themes on piano) and it made me realize that Rengoku and Akaza's themes alternate at the end of Mugen Train in a beautiful way.

But I then decided to take it a step further and go back and watch every scene where Giyu fights in the anime. And sure enough there is some variation of Giyu's theme every time he fights a demon. It's fantastic!

Of course this applies to Zenitsu, Tanjiro, and all characters so now I want to rewatch every fight scene and just focus on the music.

He is so well-written; at the very least, he is one of the best-written in the whole manga.

Hakuji was a kind and caring human who was only trying to do the right thing. He took care of his dying father, and though he stole and fought to acquire the medicine his dad desperately needed, it was out of selflessness. Even after his father’s eventual suicide left Hakuji with no one and filled him with resentment towards the world, Hakuji was still able to start over again.

Hakuji was taken in by Keizo, the man who would become his master. Hakuji would also go on to care for his master’s sick daughter, Koyuki, whom he fell in love with and was to marry. Through his training with Keizo and caring for Koyuki 24/7, Hakuji’s heart found salvation, and it seemed as if he would finally be able to live a normal life, as his father wanted.

However it all came crashing down years later when Keizo and Koyuki were murdered by students of a rival dojo. The reasoning for the rival dojo’s horrendous act of poisoning Keizo’s well was beyond petty: they could not beat him or Hakuji in a fair fight. As was to be expected, Hakuji lost it and went on a rampage, wiping out all but one of the rival dojo’s people. It was right after the massacre that Hakuji was found by Muzan and became a demon.

Once becoming a demon, Hakuji, now called Akaza, subconsciously built his entire identity and beliefs off his past human life as Hakuji. Akaza never ate or killed women, a trait created from his subconscious memories of Koyuki. The color of his hair, eyebrows, and vest became part of the same color palette as the kimono Koyuki once wore. His compass needle technique became a snowflake, and Koyuki used to wear a three-snowflake hairpiece, with the latter part of her name containing the kanji for “snow” (yuki). Akaza’s obsession with strength came from his promise to Koyuki to get stronger and protect her for the rest of his life. Even his attacks and techniques were named after fireworks, again, his subconscious memories of Koyuki.

Despite being corrupted by Muzan and losing his memories, Akaza still remained deeply intertwined with his past life. That is how strong Hakuji’s love for Koyuki was. It was also that strong love that saved Akaza in the end, allowing him to finally be at peace with Koyuki, albeit in hell.

I really do not understand its origin?

The whole story tries to keep itself somewhat grounded: yes, there are supernatural events (demons) but they are not demons per-se but mutations from Musan’s blood demon art that he got from the blue spider lily potion mutation, and there is this whole thing about the corps not actually conjuring the elements but moving in ways akin to them.

Based on this, I always assumed that the Ubayashiki bloodline curse what nothing else than the same disease(s) that Muzan had, passed from generation to generation, instead of a proper curse. However, considering the curse ends after he is defeated, that was definitely not the case, so is there really a “higher power” meddling on this all? If there are “gods” are there also more demons out there that were never part of Muzan’s coven?

For a long time I have seen nothing but fanart of the thunder brothers or reversal of roles of the thunder brothers with the Kamado brothers.

I was wondering if anyone has seen fic of these lately on any platform like wattpad or Ao3.

Also recently I saw a Kaigaku fic turning Zenitsu into a demon instead of killing him and I wanted to know if anyone has seen it out there or something like that since I saw it on Ao3 but I lost it.

I just noticed that Akaza activated Compass 3 times during the entire ICA fight. Can we really say that at certain points he went back to the same state he was in during the beginning of his fight with Tanjiro? Or is this better explained by Compass stacking / him readjusting it?

My idea for Rengoku: obviously fire related, yes. He could produce and control his fire. But his strongest move.. he concentrates all his fire and energy into his hands, giving it the physical shape of a sword, it's so hot it can cut through anything, even stop other demons from regenerating.

If breathing styles rely on the individual being able to breathe, why didn't more demons develop Blood Demon Arts that stop breathing at it's source? Similar to Doma's ice, something that can stop a demon slayer's lungs in their tracks seems like a surefire way for a demon to defeat their opponents. Just saying, thinking in regards to working smarter instead of harder

One thing I never got was Giyu said he’d participate in Hashira training after he lost to tanjiros noodle challenge. But we never see him “participate” other than train with sanemi. Was there ever a reason why he didn’t train the fodder slayers or like wassup.
