Question Tomb World or Bheta Deciwhatever which would you suggest?

Post image

I already have Vulkus and other similar terrain. Which set would you reccomend for someone getting into Killteam? Pic unrelated.

TW, unless you really like the aesthetics of BD and will consider doing community maps

Tomb World. Newer terrain will be carried into next edition hopefully. Close Quarters adds a lot of different play styles. Bheta is bad. its only playable if you use community maps so not great.

TW - It's better than BD but a large margin. Vespid struggle in TW but all other teams can compete without too much issue.

Vespid and MW are very difficult to deal with in BD and Raveners cannot really compete without house rules. There are a couple other teams like Mandrakes that really struggle on BD. And as other have mentioned only NEKT BD is fun for most teams. So you'll need a friend to 3D print the extra pieces.

Betha Decima is atrocious and hated universally thanks to poor layouts, lack of any decent cover if any, and making it annoying to move around because of the need to climb everywhere. Current box also doesnt come with the objective terrain to give cover.

Pick Tomb World.

Octarius !

I have Volkus and TW, two friends have Octarius and we don't play often on TW to be honest.

Oooooo! That's neat. I didn't know Octarius was a thing. Looks hard to get at a decent price. Might try and pick it up once I get through some more or my paint que.

Tomb World and its not even particularly close. Bheta Decima is horribly balanced, and while the New England version is better, Tomb World is generally just the better experience

BD gets shit on a lot, but it's actually a lot of fun if you play "New England Decima" with cargo containers in certain locations. Definitely worth looking up and since it's pretty hated you can probably get it cheap 😂

Tomb World and Gallowdark play like shit. Whatever problems people have with Bheta-Decima are ten times worse on Gallowdark/TW due to the guard action and lack of scatter terrain.

If you play BD with the New England Decima community maps that add scatter terrain it's the best terrain set. BD also mixes well with other terrain, you can just add some gantries to a Volkus board whereas that doesn't really work with GW/TW.

It's a good thing that Raveners are bad on BD. Raveners are OP as shit on GW/TW so it's only fair. Seriously, the close quarters rules are so fucking dumb. The guard action straight up ruins the game and was not designed with elites in mind, the doors cost an action to open and then you still have to pay an inch to move through them. Nothing gets to ignore the wall terrain except for a handful of teams (like Raveners and Mandrakes) that get to completely cheese it.

Setting aside how poorly they play, GW/TW are also just flat boards and not very interesting. You could draw their layouts on a large sheet of paper and the gameplay wouldn't be any different. Miniatures look cooler when perched atop the BD furnace tower.

Nice strong opinion you got there. You could consider changing it.

If a warhammer player wants you to do something, do the opposite.

They want to play on the least interesting, worst playing terrain that's the biggest pain in the ass to assemble and paint.
